Belinostat falls under P-GLYCOPROTEIN SUBSTRATES — the group Rabdosia Rubescens interacts with.

Rabdosia rubescens might increase levels of p-glycoprotein substrates. In vitro research shows that Rabdosia rubescens extract inhibits p-glycoprotein levels and activity. Drugs that might be affected include some chemotherapeutic agents (doxorubicin, etoposide, paclitaxel, vinblastine, vincristine, vindesine), antifungals (ketoconazole, itraconazole), protease inhibitors (amprenavir, indinavir, nelfinavir, saquinavir), H2 antagonists (cimetidine, ranitidine), some calcium channel blockers (diltiazem, verapamil), digoxin, corticosteroids, erythromycin, cisapride (Propulsid), fexofenadine (Allegra), cyclosporine, loperamide (Imodium), quinidine, and others.

Here's the gist for Beleodaq (belinostat). This is a powerful chemo drug for T-cell lymphoma, and your body uses a kind of cellular bouncer called P-glycoprotein to help pump drugs like this out of cells. Lab studies (test-tube only, not people) suggest Rabdosia rubescens may slow that pump down. If that pump works less, more belinostat could hang around in your system than expected.

In theory, that could mean stronger side effects, things like nausea, fatigue, low blood counts, or a higher infection risk. To be honest, this is weak, early evidence, so I'm not raising alarms. But because belinostat is serious chemo, please don't add this herb without first checking with your oncologist or pharmacist.

What Is Belinostat Injection Used For?

Brand name: Beleodaq

Beleodaq (belinostat) injection is approved to treat adult patients with relapsed or refractory peripheral T-cell lymphoma (PTCL) — a fast-growing type of lymphoma (blood cancer) that either came back after treatment or never fully responded to it.

This approval is based on how well the cancer responded to the drug, including how long those responses lasted. Whether Beleodaq extends overall survival or improves disease-related symptoms has not yet been established. Continued approval may depend on results from a confirmatory trial.
