Terfenadine falls under P-GLYCOPROTEIN SUBSTRATES — the group Rabdosia Rubescens interacts with.

Rabdosia rubescens might increase levels of p-glycoprotein substrates. In vitro research shows that Rabdosia rubescens extract inhibits p-glycoprotein levels and activity. Drugs that might be affected include some chemotherapeutic agents (doxorubicin, etoposide, paclitaxel, vinblastine, vincristine, vindesine), antifungals (ketoconazole, itraconazole), protease inhibitors (amprenavir, indinavir, nelfinavir, saquinavir), H2 antagonists (cimetidine, ranitidine), some calcium channel blockers (diltiazem, verapamil), digoxin, corticosteroids, erythromycin, cisapride (Propulsid), fexofenadine (Allegra), cyclosporine, loperamide (Imodium), quinidine, and others.

Here's the concern with this pairing. Terfenadine (Seldane) relies partly on a transporter called P-glycoprotein, which acts like a pump that ushers the drug back out of your body. Lab studies suggest Rabdosia rubescens may block that pump. If less Terfenadine gets pumped out, more of it could build up in your bloodstream.

That matters because Terfenadine, at higher levels, was famously linked to a dangerous heart rhythm problem called QT prolongation, which is exactly why it was pulled from the U.S. market years ago. So even a modest rise in levels is worth taking seriously. That said, this warning comes only from test-tube research, not human studies, so we don't truly know how strong the effect is in real life. Please check with your pharmacist or doctor before combining them.
