Here's the gist: pimozide is one of those medicines that can slightly lower the brain's seizure threshold, meaning it can make a seizure a little easier to trigger in some people. Rauwolscine, a stimulant alkaloid found in fat-burner and pre-workout products, may push in the same direction. Putting the two together could, in theory, add up and raise the chance of a convulsion.

I want to be honest about how soft this evidence is. It comes from an animal study, not from people, so it's more of a caution than a proven problem. Still, pimozide already needs careful handling, and rauwolscine can also jack up heart rate and blood pressure. Before you mix them, please run it by your pharmacist or doctor first.

Rauwolscine (alpha-yohimbine) is a stimulant alkaloid closely related to yohimbine that is marketed mainly in fat-burning and pre-workout supplements. What Is Pimozide Used For?

Brand name: Orap

Pimozide tablets are used to suppress motor tics (involuntary movements) and phonic tics (involuntary sounds or words) in people with Tourette's Disorder. It is reserved for patients whose daily life or development is severely affected by their tics — it is not intended as a first-line treatment, and it is not used for tics that are mild or mainly cosmetic concerns.

Pimozide is not meant for tics caused by other conditions or medications, and it should not be used for simple tics unrelated to Tourette's Disorder.
