Reishi Mushroom + Clonidine
Clonidine brand name: Catapres.
Reishi Mushroom has a moderate interaction with Clonidine. Theoretically, concurrent use of reishi mushroom with antihypertensive drugs might increase the risk of hypotension.

ANTIHYPERTENSIVE DRUGS
Why this applies to Clonidine
Clonidine falls under ANTIHYPERTENSIVE DRUGS — the group Reishi Mushroom interacts with.
Reishi mushroom has shown hypotensive activity in animal research. Clinical evidence suggests that reishi mushroom reduces blood pressure in some, but not all, patients with hypertension.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Here's the simple version: clonidine already lowers your blood pressure by calming the nervous system and relaxing your blood vessels. Reishi mushroom appears to have a mild blood-pressure-lowering effect of its own. So when you take them together, the two can add up, and your blood pressure may dip lower than expected.
If that happens, you might feel dizzy, lightheaded, drowsy, or faint, especially when you stand up quickly. I'll be honest with you though, this concern comes mostly from lab and animal studies plus a few mixed human reports, so it's more of a theoretical caution than a proven problem. If you'd like to try reishi, just check with your pharmacist or doctor first and keep an eye on your blood pressure at home.

By severity: 4 major · 113 moderate · 21 minor.
From our pharmacist’s overview on the Clonidine page
“American hellebore is the ingredient I would want a clonidine (Catapres) patient to know about first. Its alkaloids lower blood pressure even in small doses and slow the heart, both things clonidine already does, so the combination can drop someone dangerously low.”

About Reishi Mushroom
What is Reishi Mushroom?
- Immune support
- Fatigue and general well-being
- Stress and sleep
- Inflammation
- Heart and cholesterol health
Reishi is a traditional Asian mushroom widely used to support the immune system and overall wellness. Human evidence for most of its claimed benefits is limited or low-quality, so it should not replace proven treatments. It is generally well tolerated for short-term use, but check with your pharmacist or doctor before starting, especially if you are pregnant, nursing, or take other medicines.
About Clonidine
What Is Clonidine Used For?
Brand name: Catapres
Clonidine is used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension). Several products — including Clonidine Hydrochloride tablets, Javadin oral solution, Nexiclon XR extended-release tablets, and Catapres-TTS skin patches — are approved for this use, either alone or combined with other blood pressure medicines.
Extended-release formulations — including Onyda XR oral suspension and clonidine hydrochloride extended-release tablets (such as Kapvay) — are approved to treat ADHD in children and teenagers ages 6 to 17, either on their own or alongside stimulant medications. Separately, clonidine injection products (Duraclon and others) are used alongside opioid pain medicines to treat severe cancer pain that opioids alone cannot control adequately.

Clonidine Is Linked to Lower Levels of One Nutrient
Natural Medicines records Clonidine as a medicine that can lower these. This is not an interaction with Reishi Mushroom — it is a separate effect of the medicine, and it is a reason some people are advised to supplement rather than to avoid one:
