ANTICOAGULANT/ANTIPLATELET DRUGS
Why this applies to Ibrutinib
Ibrutinib falls under ANTICOAGULANT/ANTIPLATELET DRUGS — the group Reishi Mushroom interacts with.
A dose of 1.5 grams daily of reishi mushroom does not seem to decrease platelet aggregation, but a higher dose of 3 grams daily does.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Here's the thing worth knowing if you take ibrutinib (Imbruvica) and you're curious about reishi mushroom. Ibrutinib already carries its own risk of bleeding and easy bruising, since it affects how your platelets stick together. That's a known part of how this drug works, not a rare surprise.
Reishi may add to that effect. At higher concentrated doses (around 3 grams daily), reishi seems to make platelets a little less able to clump, while smaller amounts (about 1.5 grams) didn't show this. Stacked on top of ibrutinib, that could mean more bruising, nosebleeds, or bleeding that's slow to stop. To be fair, this concern comes from lab and early research, so it's more theoretical than proven. Still, with a bleeding-prone drug like this, please run reishi by your oncologist or pharmacist first.

From our pharmacist’s overview on the Ibrutinib page
“Ibrutinib (Imbruvica) treats blood cancers such as chronic lymphocytic leukemia, and because the drug itself makes bruising and bleeding more likely, adding the wrong supplement here can carry real consequences. Most of the entries below have blood-thinning or antiplatelet activity that stacks on top of that built-in bleeding risk.”

About Reishi Mushroom
What is Reishi Mushroom?
- Immune support
- Fatigue and general well-being
- Stress and sleep
- Inflammation
- Heart and cholesterol health
Reishi is a traditional Asian mushroom widely used to support the immune system and overall wellness. It is generally well tolerated for short-term use, but check with your pharmacist or doctor before starting, especially if you are pregnant, nursing, or take other medicines.
About Ibrutinib
What Is Ibrutinib Used For?
Brand name: Imbruvica
Imbruvica (ibrutinib) is used in adults to treat chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL) and small lymphocytic lymphoma (SLL), including cases with a specific genetic change called 17p deletion. It is also used in adults to treat Waldenström's macroglobulinemia (WM), a rare type of slow-growing blood cancer.
Imbruvica is also approved for adults and children aged 1 year and older with chronic graft-versus-host disease (cGVHD) — a serious immune complication that can occur after a stem cell or bone marrow transplant — when at least one prior treatment has not worked.
