Nateglinide falls under ANTIDIABETES DRUGS — the group Reishi Mushroom interacts with.

Theoretically, reishi mushroom might have additive effects with antidiabetes drugs.
Animal research suggests that reishi mushroom decreases blood sugar. However, in patients with type 2 diabetes, taking reishi mushroom does not reduce fasting glucose levels, and its effects on glycated hemoglobin are inconsistent.

Here's the gist: nateglinide (Starlix) works by nudging your pancreas to release insulin around mealtimes, which lowers your blood sugar. The concern on file is that reishi mushroom might push blood sugar down too, so stacking the two could in theory add up to a bigger drop than expected. If that happened, you could feel the usual signs of low blood sugar with nateglinide, like shakiness, sweating, dizziness, hunger, or a racing heart.

I want to be honest about how thin this evidence is. The blood-sugar-lowering seen with reishi comes mostly from animal and lab studies, and in people with type 2 diabetes reishi hasn't reliably lowered fasting glucose. So this is more theoretical than proven. Still, it's smart to keep an eye on your numbers and check with your pharmacist or doctor before adding reishi.

Nateglinide tablets are used to help improve blood sugar (glucose) control in adults with type 2 diabetes. It is always used together with diet and exercise — not as a replacement for them.

Nateglinide is not for type 1 diabetes, and it is not used to treat diabetic ketoacidosis (a serious complication where the blood becomes dangerously acidic).
