Here is the interaction we found between these two, with the evidence behind it.

Moderate

Why this applies to Rescinnamine

Rescinnamine falls under ANTIHYPERTENSIVE DRUGS — the group Reishi Mushroom interacts with.

Theoretically, concurrent use of reishi mushroom with antihypertensive drugs might increase the risk of hypotension.
Reishi mushroom has shown hypotensive activity in animal research. Clinical evidence suggests that reishi mushroom reduces blood pressure in some, but not all, patients with hypertension.
Severity Moderate Likelihood Possible Evidence D

Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.

Dr. Brian Staiger, PharmD, BCPS
Dr. Brian Staiger explains PharmD, Clinical Pharmacist

Here's the gist: Rescinnamine is a blood pressure medicine (it lowers blood pressure by relaxing your blood vessels and calming nervous system signals). Reishi mushroom, in animal studies and some small human reports, can also nudge blood pressure down a bit. So when you take both together, the worry is simply that the two effects could stack and push your pressure lower than intended.

If that happened, you might feel lightheaded, dizzy, tired, or faint when you stand up quickly. I want to be honest, though: this concern is mostly theoretical and rests on lab and animal data, not strong human proof. Please don't stop either one on your own. Just give your pharmacist or doctor a heads-up, and it's smart to check your blood pressure at home for a while.

By severity: 4 major · 111 moderate · 21 minor.

From our pharmacist’s overview on the Rescinnamine page

“American hellebore is the entry I would flag first for anyone taking rescinnamine (Moderil). Even small amounts of the herb drop blood pressure sharply and can slow the heart, and rescinnamine is already working to bring pressure down.”

About Reishi Mushroom

What is Reishi Mushroom?

Reishi Mushroom
  • Immune support
  • Fatigue and general well-being
  • Stress and sleep
  • Inflammation
  • Heart and cholesterol health

Reishi is a traditional Asian mushroom widely used to support the immune system and overall wellness. Human evidence for most of its claimed benefits is limited or low-quality, so it should not replace proven treatments. It is generally well tolerated for short-term use, but check with your pharmacist or doctor before starting, especially if you are pregnant, nursing, or take other medicines.
