This combo pack (Prevpac) is your H. pylori treatment, and the piece that matters here is lansoprazole, the stomach acid reducer. Lansoprazole is partly broken down by a liver enzyme called CYP2C19. In test-tube studies, water-based sage extracts seemed to slow that enzyme down a bit. In theory, that could let lansoprazole linger a little longer, possibly nudging up side effects like headache, diarrhea, or stomach upset.

Here's the honest part: this has only been seen in the lab, never in real people, so I wouldn't lose sleep over it. A little sage on your dinner is no concern. If you're taking concentrated sage capsules or the essential oil daily, just mention it to your pharmacist or doctor so they can keep an eye on things.

This combo pack (Prevpac) treats stomach ulcers tied to H. pylori. Of the three medicines, clarithromycin is the one that leans on a liver enzyme called CYP3A4 to be broken down. In lab dishes, water-based sage extracts seem to slow that enzyme down a little. If that happened in the body, clarithromycin levels could creep up, which might mean more stomach upset, nausea, taste changes, or in rare cases heart rhythm effects.

Here's the honest part: this has only been seen in test-tube studies, never in actual people, so it's more theoretical than proven. A sprinkle of sage in cooking is very unlikely to matter. Concentrated sage capsules or the essential oil are where I'd be more cautious. Since you're on a short antibiotic course, just check with your pharmacist or doctor before adding sage supplements.

Sage is a common kitchen herb that is generally safe in food amounts and is traditionally used for sore throats, digestion, sweating, and memory. Some early research is encouraging for sore throat and menopausal hot flashes, but most uses are not well proven. Concentrated extracts and the essential oil should be used carefully because high doses contain a compound called thujone, which can be harmful.
