Glyburide, Metformin falls under CYTOCHROME P450 2C9 (CYP2C9) SUBSTRATES — the group Schisandra interacts with.

Theoretically, schisandra might decrease the levels and clinical effects of CYP2C9 substrates.
In vitro and animal research suggests that schisandra induces CYP2C9 enzymes. This effect has not been reported in humans.

Glucovance combines two diabetes medicines, and the one that matters here is glyburide. Your liver clears glyburide partly through an enzyme called CYP2C9. Lab and animal studies hint that schisandra may speed that enzyme up, which could clear glyburide a little faster and make it work less well. In plain terms, that might mean higher blood sugar showing up as more thirst, tiredness, or frequent urination. (Metformin doesn't go through this enzyme, so it's not really part of this concern.)

I want to be honest: this has only been seen in test tubes and animals, never in people, so it's theoretical and may not happen at all. Still, since you're managing blood sugar, mention the schisandra to your pharmacist or doctor and keep an eye on your readings.
