Here's the simple version: both Sweet Annie and aldesleukin (Proleukin) can be tough on your liver, so using them together may stack that stress. Aldesleukin is a powerful cancer immunotherapy given in the hospital, and one of its known side effects is liver irritation, which can show up as elevated liver enzymes, yellowing of the skin or eyes, or belly discomfort. There's a worry that Sweet Annie may bother the liver too, so the concern is simply additive strain on the same organ.

I'll be honest, this is based on weak, theoretical evidence rather than solid studies. Still, since aldesleukin is serious medicine, please don't combine it with Sweet Annie without first checking with your oncology team or pharmacist.

Proleukin (aldesleukin given by intravenous infusion) is approved to treat two serious cancers in adults: metastatic renal cell carcinoma (kidney cancer that has spread to other parts of the body) and metastatic melanoma (skin cancer that has spread). Both uses are specific to Proleukin administered intravenously in a hospital setting.
