HEPATOTOXIC DRUGS
Why this applies to Diroximel Fumarate
Diroximel Fumarate falls under HEPATOTOXIC DRUGS — the group Sweet Annie interacts with.
There is some concern that Sweet Annie can adversely affect the liver.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Here's the simple version: both Sweet Annie and Vumerity (diroximel fumarate) can each be a little tough on the liver. There's some concern that Sweet Annie may irritate liver tissue, and your MS medication already comes with a known risk of raising liver enzymes. Put them together and the worry is that those effects could stack up.
I'll be honest, this caution is theoretical and based on weak, anecdotal reports, so it's not a sure thing. Still, it's worth watching. Signs your liver may be unhappy include yellowing of the skin or eyes, dark urine, belly pain on the right side, unusual tiredness, or nausea. Before adding Sweet Annie, please check with your doctor or pharmacist, since they may want to keep an eye on your liver tests.

About Sweet Annie
What is Sweet Annie?
- Malaria (traditional)
- Fever
- Inflammation
- Digestive complaints
- Antimicrobial support
- Insect repellent
Sweet Annie (Artemisia annua) is the source of artemisinin, a compound used in prescription antimalarial drugs. While the purified drug is well studied for malaria, the herb itself as a supplement is not proven for the wide range of conditions people use it for, and self-treating malaria with the raw herb is dangerous. Talk to a pharmacist or doctor before using it.
