Here is the interaction we found between these two, with the evidence behind it.
CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES
Why this applies to Fruquintinib
Fruquintinib falls under CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES — the group Thunder God Vine interacts with.
In vitro research shows that triptolide, a constituent of thunder god vine, inhibits CYP3A4 enzymes in human microsomes. This interaction has not been reported in humans.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Here's the idea with these two together. Fruquintinib (Fruzaqla) is a cancer medicine your body clears partly through a liver enzyme called CYP3A4. In lab studies, a compound in Thunder God Vine called triptolide seems to slow that enzyme down. If that were to happen in a real person, fruquintinib could build up higher than expected, which may mean stronger side effects like high blood pressure, mouth sores, fatigue, hand and foot skin reactions, or a higher risk of bleeding.
I want to be honest about the evidence, though. This is theoretical, based only on test-tube work, and it hasn't actually been reported in people. Even so, fruquintinib is a serious drug, and Thunder God Vine can be toxic on its own. Please don't combine them without checking with your oncologist or pharmacist first.
