Zopiclone falls under CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES — the group Thunder God Vine interacts with.

Theoretically, thunder god vine might increase the levels and clinical effects of CYP3A4 substrates.
In vitro research shows that triptolide, a constituent of thunder god vine, inhibits CYP3A4 enzymes in human microsomes. This interaction has not been reported in humans.

Here's the short version: your body clears zopiclone mainly through a liver enzyme called CYP3A4. Lab studies suggest one of Thunder God Vine's compounds (triptolide) can slow that same enzyme down. If it does, zopiclone could hang around longer and build up, which would tend to deepen its effects.

For a sleep medicine, that usually means more next-morning grogginess, drowsiness, dizziness, trouble with balance, or that bitter metallic taste lingering longer. The good news is that this is theoretical, based only on test-tube work, and hasn't actually been reported in people. Still, since both can make you sleepy on their own, it's worth a quick chat with your pharmacist or doctor before combining them.
