Triazolam falls under CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES — the group Thunder God Vine interacts with.

Theoretically, thunder god vine might increase the levels and clinical effects of CYP3A4 substrates.
In vitro research shows that triptolide, a constituent of thunder god vine, inhibits CYP3A4 enzymes in human microsomes. This interaction has not been reported in humans.

Here's the gist for Halcion (triazolam): your body relies on a liver enzyme called CYP3A4 to break this sleep aid down. Lab studies suggest a compound in Thunder God Vine (triptolide) can slow that same enzyme. If that happened in real life, your triazolam could clear more slowly and build up, leading to stronger effects like next-day grogginess, deeper drowsiness, dizziness, confusion, or memory lapses.

I want to be honest about the evidence though. This concern comes only from test-tube research, and it has not actually been reported in people taking this combination. So it's more theoretical than proven. Still, since Thunder God Vine itself can be risky and needs medical supervision, please loop in your pharmacist or doctor before pairing these two.

Triazolam tablets are approved for the short-term treatment of insomnia in adults. Treatment is generally intended for 7 to 10 days. Halcion (a brand of triazolam) is specifically indicated for this same short-term use in adults.

Using triazolam for more than 2 to 3 weeks requires a full re-evaluation by your doctor to rule out an underlying medical or psychiatric condition driving the sleep problem.
