Prednisolone falls under CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES — the group Thunder God Vine interacts with.

Theoretically, thunder god vine might increase the levels and clinical effects of CYP3A4 substrates.
In vitro research shows that triptolide, a constituent of thunder god vine, inhibits CYP3A4 enzymes in human microsomes. This interaction has not been reported in humans.

Here's the gist for these two together. Prednisolone is processed in part by a liver enzyme called CYP3A4. In test-tube studies, a compound in Thunder God Vine (triptolide) seems to slow that enzyme down. If that holds true in people, your body might clear prednisolone a bit more slowly, letting it build up and push its effects (and side effects) a little higher.

With prednisolone, that could mean more of the usual steroid issues, things like fluid retention, higher blood sugar, mood or sleep changes, stomach upset, or more infection risk over time. Now, the honest part: this is only a theory from lab research and hasn't actually been seen in real patients. Still, since Thunder God Vine can be toxic on its own, please loop in your doctor or pharmacist before combining them.

Here's the gist: Thunder God Vine appears to calm down the immune system on its own. Prednisolone, a corticosteroid, does the same thing. So if you stack them, the worry is that you could end up with too much immune suppression combined together. That might raise your risk of catching infections more easily, having trouble shaking them off, or noticing other steroid-related effects more strongly.

I want to be honest about the evidence here: this is a theoretical concern based on how each one works, not from solid human studies, and large doses of the herb are the main worry. Thunder God Vine can also be toxic if prepared wrong. Please don't start or stop anything on your own. Loop in your doctor or pharmacist first so they can keep an eye on you.

Prednisolone is prescribed for many different conditions where inflammation or an overactive immune system is causing harm. These range from severe allergic reactions and asthma to certain skin diseases, blood disorders, eye problems, and some cancers.

It is also used to support the body when the adrenal glands aren't making enough of their own steroids, and to manage flares of conditions like ulcerative colitis, multiple sclerosis, and nephrotic syndrome (a kidney condition causing protein loss in the urine).
