Nortriptyline falls under CYTOCHROME P450 1A2 (CYP1A2) SUBSTRATES — the group Thunder God Vine interacts with.

Theoretically, thunder god vine might increase the levels and clinical effects of CYP1A2 substrates.
In vitro research shows that triptolide, a constituent of thunder god vine, inhibits CYP1A2 enzymes in human microsomes. This interaction has not been reported in humans.

Here's the idea with this pairing. Your body uses a liver enzyme called CYP1A2 to help break down nortriptyline. Lab studies suggest that triptolide, one of the active compounds in Thunder God Vine, may slow that enzyme down. If it does, nortriptyline could clear out of your system more slowly and build up a bit higher than expected.

With more nortriptyline hanging around, you might notice stronger side effects like drowsiness, dry mouth, constipation, blurry vision, dizziness when standing, or a faster heartbeat. I want to be honest though: this is theoretical, based only on test-tube research, and hasn't actually been reported in people. Still, since Thunder God Vine can be risky on its own, please loop in your doctor or pharmacist before combining the two.
