Pentazocine falls under CYTOCHROME P450 1A2 (CYP1A2) SUBSTRATES — the group Thunder God Vine interacts with.

Theoretically, thunder god vine might increase the levels and clinical effects of CYP1A2 substrates.
In vitro research shows that triptolide, a constituent of thunder god vine, inhibits CYP1A2 enzymes in human microsomes. This interaction has not been reported in humans.

Here's the gist for combining Thunder God Vine with pentazocine (Talwin). Your body relies partly on an enzyme called CYP1A2 to clear pentazocine out of your system. Lab studies suggest a compound in Thunder God Vine, triptolide, can slow that enzyme down. If it does, pentazocine could linger longer and hit harder, meaning more drowsiness, dizziness, nausea, constipation, or slowed breathing. Pentazocine works directly (it's not a prodrug that needs activating), so blocking that enzyme tends to boost its effects rather than weaken them.

That said, this is only a theoretical concern from test-tube work, never confirmed in people. Still, given how potent Thunder God Vine can be, please run this combination by your pharmacist or doctor before mixing them.
