Here's the simple version: Rituximab (Rituxan) is itself an immune-calming medicine. It lowers a specific type of white blood cell to dial back an overactive or cancerous immune system. Thunder God Vine also quiets the immune system, especially in larger, concentrated doses. So the worry is that stacking the two could push immune suppression too far.

What that could look like: more infections, slow-to-heal illnesses, fevers, or general run-down feelings. To be clear, this concern is theoretical, based on how the herb behaves, not on solid human studies. Rituximab isn't a prodrug, so there's no liver-enzyme flip to worry about here. Still, since Thunder God Vine can be toxic on its own, please loop in your oncologist or pharmacist before combining them.

What Is Rituximab Injection Used For?

Brand name: Rituxan

Rituximab is used to treat a range of blood cancers and immune-driven diseases. In cancer care, it targets certain types of Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma (NHL) and Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia (CLL) — both in adults and, for some lymphomas, in children as young as 6 months old.

Beyond cancer, rituximab is also approved for moderately-to-severely active Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA) in adults who haven't responded well to other treatments, as well as for two rare inflammatory blood vessel diseases — Granulomatosis with Polyangiitis (GPA) and Microscopic Polyangiitis (MPA) — and for a serious skin blistering condition called Pemphigus Vulgaris (PV).
