Here is the interaction we found between these two, with the evidence behind it.
Oral Drugs
Why this applies to Exemestane
Exemestane falls under Oral Drugs — the group Thyroid Extract interacts with.
Well-controlled human studies have demonstrated the likely existence of this interaction.
Here the issue runs the other way around. Your Exemestane (Aromasin) is the bystander, not the one being affected. The interaction on file is really about how other things, like food, calcium, or iron, can keep your body from absorbing the thyroid hormone in a thyroid extract. So when you take Aromasin alongside thyroid extract, it's the thyroid extract's absorption you have to think about, not the cancer medicine.
The practical takeaway is one of timing. Thyroid hormone works best on an empty stomach, taken by itself, with other pills and food held off for at least 30 to 60 minutes. Exemestane doesn't have that same empty-stomach rule, so spacing them apart is usually simple. Since thyroid extract doses aren't standardized, please loop in your pharmacist or doctor so your thyroid levels stay steady.

Clinically significant. Avoid the combination, or use only under close professional supervision.

From our pharmacist’s overview on the Exemestane page
“Exemestane (Aromasin) is an aromatase inhibitor for hormone-sensitive breast cancer, and because its job is keeping estrogen suppressed, anything that shifts its blood level puts the treatment itself at risk. This list deserves real care.”

About Thyroid Extract
What is Thyroid Extract?
- Hypothyroidism (underactive thyroid)
- Fatigue and low energy
- Weight management
- Sluggish metabolism
- General thyroid support
Thyroid extract supplements are made from dried animal thyroid gland and may contain real thyroid hormones (T3 and T4), but the amounts in over-the-counter products are not standardized and can be unpredictable. Self-treating a thyroid problem with these supplements can be risky, so always work with a doctor or pharmacist and use prescription thyroid medicine when treatment is needed.
About Exemestane
What Is Exemestane Used For?
Brand name: Aromasin
Exemestane is used in postmenopausal women with breast cancer that is fueled by estrogen. It has two uses.
The first is early breast cancer that is estrogen-receptor positive, after two to three years of tamoxifen. Exemestane then completes a total of five consecutive years of hormone therapy.
