Additionally, taking thyroid medications with certain drugs, like antacids or calcium supplements, can hinder the effectiveness of the thyroid medication, necessitating adjustments in dosage or timing. Prescription thyroid medications, such as Synthroid, are recommended to be taken on an empty stomach, at least 30 minutes before food and other medications, for optimal absorption.

Here's the thing to keep in mind if you take both of these. Thyroid extract delivers thyroid hormones (T3 and T4), and these hormones are absorbed poorly when there's something else in your stomach. Tiludronate (Skelid) is one of those medications that can get in the way. When taken too close together, the tiludronate can bind up the thyroid hormone in your gut, so less of it gets into your body and your thyroid treatment may not work as well.

The good news is this is easy to manage with timing. The usual advice is to take thyroid hormone on an empty stomach, then wait at least 30 minutes (longer is better) before other medicines like tiludronate. Please check with your pharmacist or doctor on the exact spacing so both medicines do their job.
