Here's the gist with Tarka (the trandolapril plus verapamil combo): tragacanth is a thick, gel-forming fiber. When it's sitting in your stomach and gut at the same time as a pill, it can theoretically grab onto the medicine and change how much of it your body absorbs. The honest part is we don't know which direction it goes, it could lower absorption, raise it, or do nothing at all. This is based on how fiber behaves, not on real studies with this drug.

Why it's worth a thought: if absorption dropped, your blood pressure and heart rate control might slip. If it climbed, you could feel more dizziness, swelling, or a slow pulse. An easy fix is spacing them out, taking tragacanth 30 to 60 minutes after your Tarka. Run it by your pharmacist to be safe.

Tragacanth is a plant gum used mainly as a thickener and emulsifier in foods, cosmetics, and medicines, and traditionally to soothe the throat and gut.
