Does it work?
Not established
For organic beet concentrate, the evidence shows it's possibly effective for athletic performance and exercise-induced muscle soreness. For chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), it's rated possibly ineffective.
For dyslipidemia (abnormal blood fat levels) and cognitive function, the evidence is insufficient to make a rating. We hold no effectiveness data for Superoxide Dismutase, Catalase, Ox Bile extract, or Pancrelipase in this product.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Beet as a food is widely eaten and generally well tolerated in adults. However, the safety data for concentrated beet supplements is limited, so use caution.
The most common side effects from oral beet are red or black stools—the red coloring is harmless. Rare serious adverse effects include low blood calcium (hypocalcemia) and kidney damage when taken in large amounts.
One case reported black stools, nausea, and vomiting after taking beet pills in a patient on blood thinners. We hold no safety or pregnancy/breastfeeding data for the other four ingredients.

The most serious interaction involves a group of drugs processed by a liver enzyme called CYP3A4 (cytochrome P450 3A4 substrates). Beet's main pigment, betanin, may competitively inhibit this enzyme in a dose-dependent way—similarly to the strong inhibitor ketoconazole—which could theoretically raise the levels of these drugs in your bloodstream.
This is a Moderate severity interaction.
Beet also has Minor interactions with blood pressure medications (antihypertensive drugs). Beet contains nitrates that can relax blood vessels and lower blood pressure, though one clinical study using concentrated beetroot juice found no significant impact on blood pressure or heart rate.
Additionally, beet may theoretically decrease the levels of CYP1A2 substrates (another group of drugs processed by the liver)—in vitro research suggests beet induces the CYP1A2 enzyme.

Cytochrome P450 3A4 (Cyp3A4) Substrates
Theoretically, beet might increase the levels of CYP3A4 substrates.
In vitro research suggests that betanin, the major pigment in beet, competitively inhibits CYP3A4 in a dose-dependent manner similarly to strong CYP3A4 inhibitor ketoconazole.
Antihypertensive Drugs
Beet and beetroot contain nitrates, which can cause vasodilation, potentially leading to lower blood pressure. However, a study published in the European Journal of Clinical Nutrition using concentrated beetroot juice found no significant impact on blood pressure or heart rate in different age groups. Other small clinical studies suggest that while beet consumption might transiently lower blood pressure due to vessel dilation, there's no consistent evidence of a lasting effect. Overall, the theoretical risk of reduced blood pressure due to beet's nitrate content exists, but studies generally indicate a low and temporary impact rather than a sustained decrease.
Cytochrome P450 1A2 (Cyp1A2) Substrates
Theoretically, beet might decrease the levels and clinical effects of CYP1A2 substrates.
In vitro research suggests that beet induces CYP1A2 enzymes.
