BiomeMD Ingredients & Drug Interactions
What is this page for?
First and foremost: checking BiomeMD against your medications. The heart of this page is the interaction checker and the full interaction report — how this product’s ingredients may interact with prescription and over-the-counter medicines you may be taking.
Around that, we add a pharmacist’s high-level view of the product as a whole — what’s inside, the evidence for its stated use, how transparent the label is, and what safety data exists — so you can see the full picture in one place. It’s educational information from our licensed clinical databases and the clinical staff at HelloPharmacist — not medical advice — and we don’t sell or endorse products. Our editorial policy
BiomeMD is a dietary supplement by 1MD Nutrition with 15 active ingredients. Our pharmacy team’s full take, with four database checks built into the cards below — a summary of what is known, not a grade of the product itself.
What’s inside
Low disclosure
BiomeMD contains 15 active probiotic ingredients—live bacterial strains and one spore-forming species designed to support digestive health. The formula includes multiple Lactobacillus species (acidophilus, plantarum, casei, gasseri, salivarius, rhamnosus, and delbrueckii), several Bifidobacterium strains (lactis, longum, and bifidum), Bacillus coagulans, and two additional ingredients we cannot fully identify from the data on file.
These are blended with inactive ingredients including a vegetable capsule (DRcaps), prebiotic fibers (FOS, galacto-oligosaccharides, and xylo-oligosaccharides), vegetable oil powder, and silica.
Does it work?
Moderate evidence
The evidence for most conditions in this product ranges from "possibly effective" to "insufficient data." Lactobacillus acidophilus strains show possibly effective evidence for irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), Helicobacter pylori infection, antibiotic-associated diarrhea, and bacterial vaginosis. Bacillus coagulans is possibly effective for constipation and IBS.
Bifidobacterium bifidum is possibly effective for IBS and respiratory tract infections. For most other uses—hay fever, anxiety, asthma, cognitive decline, athletic performance, and liver disease—the evidence we hold is currently insufficient to rate.
The formula is not established to be effective for atopic disease (such as eczema or allergies).
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
These probiotic strains are generally well tolerated in healthy adults and children. The most common gastrointestinal side effects are mild and uncommon: abdominal discomfort, pain, bloating, flatulence, diarrhea, and burping.
One trial of a different probiotic combination (not this exact product) reported two cases of rash and one of itching, though it's unclear whether the probiotics caused them. There is a theoretical concern—rare but documented—that live probiotic bacteria can cause serious infections (bacteremia, sepsis, abscess) in people who are critically ill, severely immunocompromised, have indwelling catheters, or are preterm infants.
For otherwise healthy people without those risk factors, this risk appears very low. Pregnancy: possibly safe based on available data.
Lactation data are limited; talk with your doctor before using while breastfeeding.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
If you take antibiotic drugs, separate them from BiomeMD by a few hours—antibiotics can kill the live bacteria in this product and reduce its effectiveness. No other medication interactions are documented for the ingredients we could check.
Use the medication search tool on this page to verify your exact prescriptions.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFormula with limited ingredient disclosure with some supporting evidence for its stated purpose. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
BiomeMD is a multi-strain probiotic meant to support digestive health, with modest evidence for IBS, diarrhea, and constipation. If you take antibiotics, space them a few hours apart from this product so the antibiotics don't kill the live organisms.
People who are very ill, severely immunocompromised, or in the hospital should check with their doctor first. Otherwise, it's generally well tolerated—ask your pharmacist if you have specific health concerns or take other medications.

BiomeMD by 1MD Nutrition Drug Interactions
HelloPharmacist Interaction Report
BiomeMD by 1MD Nutrition is a 15-ingredient probiotic formula, and it does interact with one major medication type: antibiotics.
Several of the live bacterial strains in this product—Lactobacillus acidophilus (two strains), Bacillus coagulans, Bifidobacterium longum, Bifidobacterium bifidum, Lactobacillus gasseri, and Lactobacillus delbrueckii—can theoretically be killed by antibiotics taken at the same time, which would reduce the effectiveness of the probiotic itself. This is a Moderate severity interaction.
The way around it is simple: space them out. Your doctor or pharmacist can tell you the right timing—usually a few hours apart is enough.
Read the full breakdown — every affected drug type, severity by severity
Altogether, these interactions span 182 individual medications.
We couldn't check several other ingredients in this formula—Lactobacillus plantarum Lp-115, Bifidobacterium lactis HN019 and B42L, Lactobacillus casei, Lactobacillus plantarum, Lactobacillus salivarius, Lactobacillus rhamnosus, and CARE4U—because we don't hold monographs for them yet. That doesn't mean they interact; it means the data isn't on file.
If you take antibiotics, run your specific medications through the interaction checker on this page to confirm the timing you'll need.
