Bone Health Ingredients & Drug Interactions
by SuperSmart
What is this page for?
First and foremost: checking Bone Health against your medications. The heart of this page is the interaction checker and the full interaction report — how this product’s ingredients may interact with prescription and over-the-counter medicines you may be taking.
Around that, we add a pharmacist’s high-level view of the product as a whole — what’s inside, the evidence for its stated use, how transparent the label is, and what safety data exists — so you can see the full picture in one place. It’s educational information from our licensed clinical databases and the clinical staff at HelloPharmacist — not medical advice — and we don’t sell or endorse products. Our editorial policy

HelloPharmacist Scorecard of Bone Health by SuperSmart
Our pharmacy team’s full take, with four database checks built into the cards below — a summary of what is known, not a grade of the product itself.
What’s inside
Low disclosure
Bone Health contains four active ingredients. Rehmannia glutinosa Root Extract, Cuscuta chinensis Seed Extract, Astragalus membranaceus Root Extract, and Eucommia ulmoides Leaf Extract are the herbs at work here.
There's also a proprietary blend called Osteosine, whose component ingredients are listed separately. The capsule also contains two inactive ingredients—Acacia Gum and White Rice Flour—which are fillers and binders.
Does it work?
Not established
The evidence for these ingredients in bone health isn't established in our data. Rehmannia has possibly effective evidence for chronic kidney disease, but insufficient evidence for osteoporosis or diabetes.
Astragalus and Cuscuta chinensis both show insufficient evidence for the conditions listed in our records. Eucommia ulmoides effectiveness data isn't available to us.
If bone health is your goal, ask your pharmacist or doctor what the research actually supports for this combination.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Rehmannia, Cuscuta chinensis, and Astragalus all come with the same caution: they're used in traditional medicine, but human safety data are limited and product quality varies. Astragalus is generally well tolerated short-term in healthy adults, but long-term data are sparse.
Cuscuta chinensis at high doses may cause intestinal cramping and diarrhea; traditional sources suggest not exceeding 8 grams daily. We hold no adverse-effect data for Rehmannia or Eucommia ulmoides.
None of these ingredients have adequate safety data in pregnancy or breastfeeding—the facts advise against use in both situations.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
Check with your pharmacist if you take blood pressure medications (Rehmannia may lower blood pressure further), diabetes drugs (both Rehmannia and Astragalus may increase low blood sugar risk), immunosuppressants or cyclophosphamide (Astragalus may interfere with their effects), or lithium (Astragalus may raise lithium levels). No interactions are documented in our data for Eucommia ulmoides, though we have no data on file for it.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFormula with limited ingredient disclosure with no established evidence rating for its marketed use. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
This product combines traditional herbal extracts that haven't been proven effective for bone health in our records. If you take blood pressure pills, diabetes medications, immunosuppressants, lithium, or cyclophosphamide, check your exact drugs against our interaction tool before you start.
Talk with your pharmacist or doctor about whether this is right for you and how it fits with anything else you're taking.

Bone Health by SuperSmart Drug Interactions
HelloPharmacist Interaction Report
SuperSmart Bone Health contains four active ingredients, and we've found documented interactions with a total of 373 individual medications across the product.
The most serious interaction we can point to comes from Rehmannia, which may increase the risk of low blood pressure (hypotension) when combined with blood pressure medications—an effect seen in animal research showing rehmannia can lower blood pressure and inhibit an enzyme involved in blood pressure control.
Read the full breakdown — every affected drug type, severity by severity
Rehmannia also carries a Moderate risk with diabetes medications, potentially raising the risk of low blood sugar (hypoglycemia). Astragalus, another ingredient here, has Moderate interactions with immunosuppressants (medications that weaken the immune system intentionally), lithium, cyclophosphamide (a cancer drug), and antidiabetes drugs.
With immunosuppressants and cyclophosphamide, astragalus may interfere with how these drugs work. With lithium, astragalus's diuretic properties might reduce how your body clears the drug, raising lithium levels.
With diabetes medications, the risk again is low blood sugar.
We could not check Eucommia ulmoides Leaf Extract for interactions—we hold no data for it. Cuscuta chinensis Seed Extract showed no interactions in our records, though we could not verify it was fully assessed.
Before you start this product, run your complete medication list through the interaction checker below—especially if you take blood pressure pills, diabetes medications, immune-suppressing drugs, lithium, or cyclophosphamide.

Rehmannia glutinosa Root Extract
Antidiabetes Drugs
Theoretically, rehmannia might increase the risk of hypoglycemia when taken with antidiabetes drugs.
Animal research shows that rehmannia may have hypoglycemic effects.
Antihypertensive Drugs
Theoretically, rehmannia might increase the risk of hypotension when taken with antihypertensive drugs.
Animal research shows that rehmannia may have hypotensive effects. Laboratory research shows that formulations of dried and processed rehmannia root inhibit angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE).
Astragalus membranaceus Root Extract
Antidiabetes Drugs
Theoretically, taking astragalus with antidiabetes drugs might increase the risk of hypoglycemia.
Clinical research in humans shows that astragalus might have hypoglycemic effects. Theoretically, taking astragalus, especially in combination with other hypoglycemic agents, might increase the risk of hypoglycemia.
Cyclophosphamide
Theoretically, astragalus might interfere with cyclophosphamide therapy.
Evidence regarding the effect of astragalus on immunosuppression caused by cyclophosphamide is conflicting. Some animal research suggests that astragalus reverses cyclophosphamide-induced immunosuppression. However, other animal research shows no effect.
Immunosuppressants
Theoretically, astragalus might interfere with immunosuppressive therapy.
Astragalus seems to stimulate immune function. Theoretically, taking astragalus might decrease the effects of immunosuppressive therapy.
Lithium
Theoretically, astragalus might increase levels and adverse effects of lithium.
Animal research suggests that astragalus has diuretic properties. Theoretically, due to this diuretic effect, astragalus might reduce excretion and increase levels of lithium.
