HelloPharmacist Scorecard of ChlorOxygen Chlorophyll Concentrate Alcohol Free by Herbs Etc.
Our pharmacy team’s full take, with four database checks built into the cards below — a summary of what is known, not a grade of the product itself.
What’s inside
Full disclosure
This 2-ingredient liquid concentrate contains chlorophyll (the plant pigment itself) and two semi-synthetic chlorophyll derivatives — sodium chlorophyllin and copper chlorophyllin. These are the active components.
The product also contains purified water, vegetable glycerine, and maltodextrin as inactive ingredients to keep it liquid and stable.
Does it work?
Not established
The evidence for what chlorophyllin actually does is mixed. For urinary odor — one of the more common claims — the data says it's possibly ineffective.
For acne, cancer prevention, constipation, gas, and low white blood cell counts, there simply isn't reliable evidence to say whether it works or not. If you're considering this for one of those uses, talk with your doctor or pharmacist about whether the evidence supports it for your situation.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Chlorophyllin is generally well tolerated in the short term, but the quality of long-term safety data is limited — we don't have a lot of real-world information about what happens if you take it for months or years. The main concern is photosensitivity: oral chlorophyll can make you more prone to sun damage, and case reports have documented blistering and skin issues after sun exposure or minor trauma.
If you're pregnant, the safety data isn't solid enough to recommend it — avoidance is the safer choice. Breastfeeding safety is also unknown, so the same advice applies.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
If you take any photosensitizing drugs — medications that increase your skin's sensitivity to sunlight — check them with your doctor or pharmacist before adding this product. The chlorophyll derivatives here may add to that effect.
Use the interaction checker on this page to look up your exact medications.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFully disclosed formula with no established evidence rating for its marketed use. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
This product is a chlorophyll concentrate that's generally well tolerated short-term, but long-term safety data are sparse. The biggest caution is if you take medications that sensitize you to sunlight — those need to be checked first.
If you're pregnant or breastfeeding, the data advises against it. Talk with your own doctor or pharmacist to see if this fits your situation and what to watch for.

ChlorOxygen Chlorophyll Concentrate Alcohol Free by Herbs Etc. Drug Interactions
HelloPharmacist Interaction Report
ChlorOxygen Chlorophyll Concentrate by Herbs Etc. contains chlorophyll derivatives that interact with one major drug category.
The most serious concern is photosensitizing drugs (medications that make your skin extra-sensitive to sunlight) — chlorophyllin, a semi-synthetic form of chlorophyll in this product, may add to that effect. If you take any medication that causes photosensitivity, you'll want to check it against the list on this page before starting.
Read the full breakdown — every affected drug type, severity by severity
Additionally, chlorophyll itself has been reported to cause light sensitivity on its own, and case reports link it to a skin condition called pseudoporphyria — blistering that appears after sun exposure or minor skin trauma. The product information notes this is a theoretical concern with the chlorophyllin derivatives here, but it's worth knowing.
Altogether, these interactions span 335 individual medications. To see if any of your prescriptions or over-the-counter drugs are on that list, run them through the interaction checker below.

Chlorophyll
Methotrexate (Trexall, Others)
Theoretically, chlorophyll may reduce the clearance of methotrexate.
In one case report, a 54-year-old male developed delayed clearance of intravenous high-dose methotrexate with concomitant use of chlorophyll. When chlorophyll was stopped 2 days prior to methotrexate treatment, methotrexate clearance was unaffected.
Photosensitizing Drugs
Theoretically, concomitant use of chlorophyll with photosensitizing drugs may have additive effects.
Chlorophyll has been reported to cause photosensitization. In two case reports, pseudoporphyria developed after oral intake of chlorophyll. Theoretically, concomitant use with other photosensitizing drugs may exacerbate this effect.
