Minocycline falls under PHOTOSENSITIZING DRUGS — the group Chlorophyllin interacts with.

Theoretically, concomitant use of chlorophyllin with photosensitizing drugs may have additive effects.
Chlorophyllin is a semi-synthetic derivative of chlorophyll. Chlorophyll has been reported to cause photosensitization. Orally, chlorophyll has also been associated with the development of pseudoporphyria in multiple case reports.

Here's the gist: minocycline already makes your skin more sensitive to sunlight, so you can sunburn faster than usual. Chlorophyllin may do the same thing on its own, so taking both together could add up and leave you even more prone to burning or a rash after time outside or under bright light.

I'll be honest that this is mostly a theoretical concern. It's based on case reports with chlorophyll and general knowledge of how these things behave, not strong head-to-head studies. Minocycline isn't a prodrug here, so nothing is changing how the antibiotic itself works. The practical move is simple sun smarts: wear sunscreen, cover up, and limit midday sun. If you'd like, run the combo by your pharmacist or doctor first, especially if you're already sun-sensitive.

The best evidence is for its use as a deodorizing agent, while many popular claims like detoxification and digestive benefits are not well proven. About Minocycline

What Is Minocycline Used For?

Brand names: Vectrin, Dynacin, Minocin, Minocin IV, Solodyn, Acnamino MR, Minocin MR, Sebomin MR, Aknemin, Arestin Miscrosperes, Amzeeq, Zilxi

Oral and intravenous minocycline products treat many serious bacterial infections, including Rocky Mountain spotted fever, respiratory tract infections, sexually transmitted infections such as lymphogranuloma venereum and nongonococcal urethritis, plague, cholera, brucellosis, tularemia, and others caused by susceptible organisms. MINOCIN Intravenous is used when oral therapy is not adequate or tolerated.

Extended-release oral minocycline tablets are indicated specifically for inflammatory lesions of moderate to severe acne vulgaris in patients 12 years and older — not for treating infections. AMZEEQ (topical foam) treats inflammatory lesions of moderate to severe acne vulgaris in patients 9 years and older. ZILXI (topical foam) and EMROSI (oral capsule) are indicated for inflammatory lesions of rosacea in adults. ARESTIN (oral powder placed by a dental professional) is used alongside scaling and root planing to reduce pocket depth in adult periodontitis.
