Trimipramine falls under PHOTOSENSITIZING DRUGS — the group Chlorophyllin interacts with.

Theoretically, concomitant use of chlorophyllin with photosensitizing drugs may have additive effects.
Chlorophyllin is a semi-synthetic derivative of chlorophyll. Chlorophyll has been reported to cause photosensitization. Orally, chlorophyll has also been associated with the development of pseudoporphyria in multiple case reports.

Here's the thing to know about pairing chlorophyllin with trimipramine (Surmontil): this isn't about how your antidepressant is broken down or how strongly it works. Trimipramine doesn't become more or less active here. Instead, both substances can make your skin more sensitive to sunlight, and the concern is that those effects could simply add up.

Trimipramine, like other tricyclic antidepressants, can occasionally cause photosensitivity, meaning easier sunburns or skin rashes. Chlorophyllin may do the same. Together you might burn faster than expected. This is largely theoretical and based mostly on case reports, so don't be alarmed. Just use good sun protection (sunscreen, hats, shade), and check with your pharmacist or doctor before starting chlorophyllin.

The best evidence is for its use as a deodorizing agent, while many popular claims like detoxification and digestive benefits are not well proven. What Is Trimipramine Used For?

Brand names: Surmontil, Trimip, Rhotrimine, Tripramine, Trimp

Trimipramine capsules are indicated for the relief of symptoms of depression. Endogenous depression — depression that arises from within, rather than from an obvious outside cause — is more likely to respond to treatment than other types.

In clinical studies, trimipramine worked as well as imipramine in hospitalized patients with depression, and was comparable to amitriptyline in less severely depressed outpatients.
