Chlorophyllin is a semi-synthetic derivative of chlorophyll. Chlorophyll has been reported to cause photosensitization. Orally, chlorophyll has also been associated with the development of pseudoporphyria in multiple case reports.

Here's the thing to know about pairing chlorophyllin with glyburide: this isn't about your blood sugar control or how your body breaks the drug down. The concern is purely about your skin. Glyburide is one of those medications that can make you more sensitive to sunlight, and chlorophyllin has also been linked to extra sun sensitivity. So taking both together could add up, leaving you more prone to sunburn, rashes, or skin reactions after time outdoors.

Honestly, this is mostly theoretical and tied to weaker evidence, so I wouldn't lose sleep over it. Just be sun-smart: wear sunscreen, cover up, and watch for any unusual skin changes. If you notice easy burning or blistering, give your pharmacist or doctor a call before changing anything.

What Is Glyburide Used For?

Brand names: Diabeta, Micronase, Glynase, Glycron, Micronized, Glynase PresTab, Albert Glyburide

Glyburide tablets are used alongside diet and exercise to help control blood sugar in adults with type 2 diabetes. It is not for type 1 diabetes or diabetic ketoacidosis (a serious complication where the body produces dangerous levels of acids called ketones).

Glyburide may be used alone or combined with metformin when metformin alone is not enough. It can also be used to help transition patients who are moving from insulin or other diabetes pills to a new regimen, under a doctor's guidance.
