Oxaprozin falls under PHOTOSENSITIZING DRUGS — the group Chlorophyllin interacts with.

Theoretically, concomitant use of chlorophyllin with photosensitizing drugs may have additive effects.
Chlorophyllin is a semi-synthetic derivative of chlorophyll. Chlorophyll has been reported to cause photosensitization. Orally, chlorophyll has also been associated with the development of pseudoporphyria in multiple case reports.

Here's the gist: oxaprozin (Daypro) is one of those NSAIDs that can make your skin more sensitive to sunlight, so a sunny day might leave you with a worse-than-usual sunburn or a rash. Chlorophyllin, taken by mouth, has also been linked to sun sensitivity. Put the two together and the concern is that those effects could stack up, leaving your skin a little more reactive to UV light than either one alone.

This is mostly theoretical and based on case reports, not strong proof, so I wouldn't lose sleep over it. If you take both, just be smart in the sun: wear sunscreen, a hat, and cover up. If you notice unusual redness or blistering, loop in your pharmacist or doctor before changing anything.

What Is Oxaprozin Used For?

Brand name: Daypro

Oxaprozin treats the signs and symptoms of osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, and juvenile rheumatoid arthritis — reducing joint pain, swelling, and stiffness. These uses are shared across available oral formulations, including Coxanto capsules, Oxaprozin capsules, and Oxaprozin tablets (including Daypro).

Juvenile rheumatoid arthritis dosing for children ages 6 to 16 is weight-based and has been studied with both the capsule and tablet formulations.
