What’s inside
Full disclosure
This product has 2 active ingredients: cinnamon at 500 mg per capsule and chromium. Chromium is a mineral that plays a role in blood sugar control and metabolism.
The capsule itself is made from gelatin, with minor inactive ingredients to round out the formula.
Does it work?
Strong evidence
Chromium is likely effective for chromium deficiency, though that's rare in people eating a varied diet. For blood sugar control, the evidence is mixed: chromium is possibly effective for type 2 diabetes but possibly ineffective for prediabetes (impaired glucose tolerance).
We don't have effectiveness data on file for cinnamon in this product.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Chromium is generally well tolerated at typical supplement doses. The most common side effects are gastrointestinal upset, headaches, insomnia, irritability, and mood changes — all uncommon.
Rare serious effects like kidney or liver damage, muscle breakdown (rhabdomyolysis), or low platelet counts have been reported, usually with high or long-term doses. Skin reactions including rashes and hives can occur, especially in people with a chromium contact allergy.
High or long-term chromium doses should be avoided unless your doctor recommends them, and extra chromium is not advised in pregnancy or while breastfeeding — small amounts from food or prenatal vitamins are generally acceptable, but supplement doses should only be used under medical advice.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
If you take insulin or antidiabetes drugs, check with your pharmacist first — chromium may increase the risk of low blood sugar. Also mention if you take levothyroxine (thyroid medication), NSAIDs, or aspirin.
No interactions are documented for cinnamon in our data.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFully disclosed formula with clinical evidence supporting its stated purpose. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
This supplement may help if you have a chromium deficiency or type 2 diabetes, but the evidence for prediabetes or blood pressure is lacking. If you take insulin or diabetes medication, this is something to discuss with your doctor before starting.

Chromium also interacts with levothyroxine (thyroid medication), a Moderate-severity interaction: it may bind the drug in your gut and reduce how much your body absorbs. Research shows it could decrease levothyroxine levels by around 17%.
NSAIDs (like ibuprofen or naproxen) and aspirin are Minor interactions — they may increase how much chromium your body absorbs, raising its levels.
We could not check cinnamon for interactions because we hold no data for it. Altogether, these interactions span 178 individual medications.

Chromium
Antidiabetes Drugs
Theoretically, chromium may have additive effects with antidiabetic agents and increase the risk of hypoglycemia.
Some research shows that taking chromium might lower blood glucose levels, especially in patients with poorly controlled type 2 diabetes.
Insulin
Theoretically, concomitant use of chromium and insulin might increase the risk of hypoglycemia.
In clinical research, chromium has been shown to increase insulin sensitivity,
Levothyroxine (Synthroid, Others)
Chromium might bind levothyroxine in the intestinal tract and decrease levothyroxine absorption.
Clinical research in healthy volunteers shows that taking chromium picolinate 1000 mcg with levothyroxine 1 mg decreases serum levels of levothyroxine by 17% when compared to taking levothyroxine alone. Advise patients to take levothyroxine at least 30 minutes before or 3-4 hours after taking chromium.
Aspirin
Theoretically, aspirin might increase chromium absorption.
Animal research suggests that aspirin may increase chromium absorption and chromium levels in the blood.
Nonsteroidal Anti-Inflammatory Drugs (Nsaids)
NSAIDs might increase chromium levels in the body.
Drugs that are prostaglandin inhibitors, such as NSAIDs, seem to increase chromium absorption and retention.
