Every active ingredient lists its own amount on the label.

Why this rating?
  • The label discloses an exact amount for 1 of its 1 active ingredient.
  • No proprietary blends here — you can verify the dose of every single component.

This product contains one active ingredient: chlorella, a single-celled freshwater algae. Each tablet delivers 200 mg of it.

There are no other inactive ingredients listed.

Does it work?

Moderate evidence
Evidence for Intended Use · database check
By FDA rules, dietary supplements can’t claim to treat, cure, or prevent disease — so labels speak in careful marketing language. We discern each product’s intended use from its name, label claims, and label statements, then grade the clinical evidence for that use. How these ratings are computed

This product doesn't appear to be marketed for a specific use, so we graded Chlorella's overall clinical evidence instead.

Moderate

Some clinical evidence supports Chlorella for:

Why this rating?
  • We looked at the product name, claims, and label statements and couldn't find a stated purpose to grade.
  • Since the label doesn't commit to one use, we graded the ingredient's overall clinical evidence instead.
  • On file: Pregnancy-related iron deficiency — rated "Possibly Effective" (Natural Medicines).

Chlorella is possibly effective for pregnancy-related iron deficiency — the one condition with established support. For brain tumors, nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD), depression, and fatigue, the evidence we have isn't strong enough to rate it.

If you're considering chlorella for any of these other uses, the science doesn't yet back them up.

How safe is it?

Well-documented data
Safety Information · database check
Well characterized

Adverse-effect, pregnancy, and general safety data are on file for most of these ingredients.

Why this rating?
  • We hold adverse-effect (side-effect) data for 1 of the 1 matched ingredient.
  • Pregnancy & breastfeeding safety ratings cover 1 of 1.
  • General safety write-ups exist for 1 of 1.
  • Remember: this measures how much safety information exists. Thin data is not the same as being safe.

Chlorella is generally well tolerated in the short term, but product quality and purity vary widely between brands, so choose carefully. The most common side effects are allergic reactions, abdominal cramping, constipation, diarrhea, fatigue, gas, nausea, photosensitivity, and darkened stool — especially in the first two weeks.

Rare serious reactions, including anaphylaxis (severe allergic reaction), have been reported. Long-term safety hasn't been established, so avoid it unless your doctor approves.

For pregnancy, chlorella is rated possibly safe, but there isn't enough data to be certain. For breastfeeding, we don't have safety information on file.

Talk with your doctor or pharmacist before taking it during pregnancy or while nursing.

Moderate identified

The most serious documented interaction for these ingredients is Moderate. Check your medications for a personalized result.

Why this rating?
  • 1 of the 1 matched ingredient can interact with medications — Chlorella.
  • The most serious interaction on file is rated Moderate.
  • Some involve high-stakes drug classes: anticoagulant / antiplatelet drugs.
  • For scale: 337 individual medications appear in the full list. A big number alone doesn't make a product dangerous — what matters is whether YOUR medication is on it, so run yours through the interaction checker on this page.

Check with your doctor or pharmacist before using if you take warfarin (Coumadin) or any blood thinner — chlorella may reduce how well it works. Also double-check if you're on photosensitizing drugs (medications that increase sun sensitivity).

No interactions are documented for the other ingredient groups we could check.

The bottom line

Scorecard at a glanceFully disclosed formula with some supporting evidence behind its ingredients' uses. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.

Chlorella may help with pregnancy-related iron deficiency, but evidence for other uses is weak or missing. If you take warfarin or photosensitizing drugs, check with your doctor or pharmacist first — this product could interfere with them.

Quality varies widely, so pick a trusted brand. Side effects are usually mild but can include GI upset and skin sensitivity to sun, especially at the start.

Clean Chlorella 200 mg Tablets by Health Ranger Select: Common Questions

Does Clean Chlorella 200 mg Tablets by Health Ranger Select interact with any medications?
Yes. Based on its ingredients, Clean Chlorella 200 mg Tablets has a known interaction with 337 medications. Use the checker to see how it interacts with a specific drug.
How can one product interact with so many drugs?
Clean Chlorella 200 mg Tablets contains a single active ingredient, and that one ingredient can interact with many different medications on its own. We check it against each medication and show the mechanism responsible.
Where does this information come from?
The product label data comes from the NIH Dietary Supplement Label Database (DSLD); the interaction data is built on the Natural Medicines database and reviewed by HelloPharmacist pharmacists.
Will this interfere with my blood thinner?
If you're on warfarin (Coumadin), chlorella could be a problem. It's high in vitamin K, which can make warfarin less effective at preventing clots. Talk with your doctor or pharmacist before taking it — they may need to adjust your dose or monitor you more closely.
Can chlorella make me more sensitive to the sun?
Yes. Chlorella itself can cause photosensitivity — some people who took it developed swelling and rash-like lesions on sun-exposed skin. If you're also taking a medication that increases sun sensitivity, the risk goes up. Use good sun protection and talk with your doctor if you're concerned.
What side effects should I expect?
Most are mild and hit hardest in the first two weeks: stomach cramping, diarrhea or constipation, gas, nausea, and fatigue are the most common. Your stool may darken too. Allergic reactions, including anaphylaxis, are rare but possible.
Is this safe to take while pregnant?
Chlorella is rated possibly safe in pregnancy, but we don't have strong data either way. Talk with your doctor or pharmacist — they can advise you based on your individual situation.
Does it really work for what it claims?
It's possibly effective for pregnancy-related iron deficiency. For brain tumors, NAFLD, depression, and fatigue, the evidence isn't established yet, so we can't say whether it works for those.
What's the difference between chlorella brands?
Quality and purity vary widely, so choose a reputable brand. This product's safety and purity depend on how it's grown and processed — that's why picking a trusted maker matters.
