What’s inside
Full disclosure
This product contains one active ingredient: lemongrass stalk extract in a concentrated liquid form. The extract is suspended in alcohol, water, and glycerin.
Does it work?
Couldn't assess
The evidence for lemongrass isn't established in the data we hold. It's been studied for headache, common cold, cough, diabetes, epilepsy, and fatigue, but the reliability of those studies isn't there yet — we can't rate whether it works for any of these uses.
How safe is it?
Some data gaps
Lemongrass is likely safe in food amounts — like when you use it to flavor tea or cooking. But this is a concentrated liquid extract, and concentrated forms have much less safety data behind them.
The safety notes advise against medicinal or concentrated amounts due to limited information and traditional concerns. No adverse effects from trials are on file.
There's no pregnancy or breastfeeding safety data available for this ingredient, so talk with your doctor or pharmacist before using it if you're pregnant, nursing, or planning either.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
Check any drugs your liver breaks down using the CYP3A4 enzyme, and any that are cleared through glucuronidation. Also check if you're taking pentobarbital (Nembutal).
Because lemongrass affects major enzyme systems, the interaction tool on this page is essential before you start.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFully disclosed formula with no assessable stated purpose. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and some safety-information gaps remain.
Lemongrass extract interacts with a broad range of medications through multiple liver pathways. If you take any prescription drugs — especially those metabolized by your liver — you need to check them against this product before starting.

Lemongrass by Herbal Terra Drug Interactions
HelloPharmacist Interaction Report
Herbal Terra's Lemongrass Liquid contains lemongrass stalk extract, which does interact with medications.
The most serious concern is with drugs broken down by your liver's CYP3A4 enzyme (a major metabolic pathway) — lemongrass may slow how your body clears these medications, potentially raising their levels and side effects. This is a Moderate-severity interaction.
Read the full breakdown — every affected drug type, severity by severity
Lemongrass also affects drugs cleared through glucuronidation, another liver pathway. Animal research suggests it may speed up their clearance, possibly lowering their effectiveness — also Moderate severity.
Additionally, there's a Moderate-severity interaction with pentobarbital (Nembutal), a sedative; lemongrass may enhance its sedating effects and side effects.
Altogether, these interactions span 697 individual medications. Because lemongrass affects broad enzyme systems rather than single drugs, we strongly recommend checking your exact medications with the search tool on this page before you start.
