Multi 9 Probiotic Ingredients & Drug Interactions
by Kyo-Dophilus
What is this page for?
First and foremost: checking Multi 9 Probiotic against your medications. The heart of this page is the interaction checker and the full interaction report — how this product’s ingredients may interact with prescription and over-the-counter medicines you may be taking.
Around that, we add a pharmacist’s high-level view of the product as a whole — what’s inside, the evidence for its stated use, how transparent the label is, and what safety data exists — so you can see the full picture in one place. It’s educational information from our licensed clinical databases and the clinical staff at HelloPharmacist — not medical advice — and we don’t sell or endorse products. Our editorial policy

Our pharmacy team’s full take, with four database checks built into the cards below — a summary of what is known, not a grade of the product itself.
What’s inside
Low disclosure
Kyo-Dophilus Multi 9 Probiotic is a blend of 8 ingredients: six live bacterial strains that we can identify (Bifidobacterium bifidum G9-1, B. longum MM-2, B. longum BB536, B. breve M-16V, Lactobacillus gasseri KS-13, and L. gasseri LAC-343), plus two others we couldn't fully assess (B. infantis M-63 and L. rhamnosus LCS-742). The capsules also contain inactive ingredients — starch, gelatin, silicon dioxide, and calcium phosphate — that serve as fillers and binders.
Does it work?
Moderate evidence
The evidence we have for these bacteria is mixed and mostly inconclusive. Bifidobacterium bifidum is rated possibly effective for irritable bowel syndrome and respiratory tract infections, but has insufficient evidence for hay fever, Alzheimer disease, and anxiety.
The other Bifidobacterium and Lactobacillus strains show insufficient evidence for most conditions they're studied in — allergic rhinitis, antibiotic-associated diarrhea, anxiety, asthma, cold, diarrhea, and others — though B. breve has been rated possibly ineffective for age-related cognitive decline and sepsis. In short, if you're hoping this will prevent or treat a specific condition, talk it over with your doctor to see whether the evidence supports it for your situation.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
These probiotics are generally well tolerated in healthy people, but safety data are limited overall. The main cautions are for people with weakened immune systems, serious illness, or critical conditions — in rare cases, these live bacteria have caused blood infections (bacteremia) or sepsis in very ill or premature infants, particularly those with heart defects or recent surgery.
In otherwise healthy adults, side effects have been rare and typically mild: bloating, flatulence, abdominal discomfort, and one report of a dry cough. For pregnancy, B. bifidum and B. longum BB536 are rated possibly safe, but for B. breve, L. gasseri, and the others, there isn't enough data to know either way — talk with your doctor or pharmacist if you're pregnant or breastfeeding to decide whether it's right for you.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
If you're on antibiotic drugs, you'll want to stagger when you take them and this probiotic — antibiotics are the only medication type we have interaction data for, and it's a Moderate concern. Talk with your doctor or pharmacist about spacing the doses so both work as intended.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFormula with limited ingredient disclosure with some supporting evidence for its stated purpose. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
This is a multi-strain probiotic that may help with a couple of gut conditions, though the evidence is still limited for most uses. The main thing to watch for is timing: if you're on antibiotics, space out your doses so the antibiotics don't wipe out the live bacteria in this supplement.
If you're pregnant, breastfeeding, or have any immune system concerns, check with your own doctor or pharmacist first — they know your full medical picture and can give you personalized advice.

Multi 9 Probiotic by Kyo-Dophilus Drug Interactions
HelloPharmacist Interaction Report
Kyo-Dophilus Multi 9 Probiotic interacts with antibiotic drugs through its six checked bacterial strains — Bifidobacterium bifidum, B. longum (both MM-2 and BB536), B. breve, Lactobacillus gasseri (both KS-13 and LAC-343) — creating a Moderate-severity concern.
Since these are live organisms, antibiotics taken at the same time may kill significant numbers of them and reduce their effectiveness. The solution is straightforward: space out your antibiotic and probiotic doses rather than taking them together.
Read the full breakdown — every affected drug type, severity by severity
Additionally, this interaction affects only one drug type — antibiotics — but it's an important one to plan around if you're on a course of treatment. We couldn't check two ingredients in the blend: Bifidobacterium infantis M-63 and Lactobacillus rhamnosus LCS-742.
Altogether, these interactions span 182 individual medications.
Before you start this product, use the search tool on this page to look up your exact antibiotic. If you're on one, just confirm the timing with your doctor or pharmacist — they'll help you space the doses so both work as intended.
