HelloPharmacist Scorecard of Pinealtrophic Forte by Douglas Laboratories
Our pharmacy team’s full take, with four database checks built into the cards below — a summary of what is known, not a grade of the product itself.
What’s inside
Full disclosure
Pinealtrophic Forte has three active ingredients: flaxseed oil, pineal, and raw veal concentrate. Flaxseed oil is a plant-derived source of omega-3 fatty acids; the other two are derived from animal tissues.
The capsule itself contains gelatin, cellulose, and vegetable stearate as inactive ingredients.
Does it work?
Couldn't assess
The evidence we hold for flaxseed oil in this product points toward limited benefit. For the conditions most commonly linked to it — high cholesterol (hyperlipidemia), weight management (obesity), rheumatoid arthritis, and bipolar disorder — the data rates it as possibly ineffective.
We hold no effectiveness ratings for pineal or raw veal concentrate.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Flaxseed oil is generally well tolerated when taken by mouth. A small number of people report changes in bowel habits, dry mouth, or digestive discomfort at around 5 grams daily; higher doses (30 grams daily or more) have been tied to loose stools and diarrhea.
Severe allergic reactions are rare. During pregnancy, flaxseed oil is rated possibly safe, though you should confirm with your doctor.
For breastfeeding, limited safety data exists — use only with medical advice. Overall safety data for this product is not extensive, so check with your doctor before use.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
Before taking Pinealtrophic Forte, check with your doctor or pharmacist if you're on blood thinners (anticoagulants or antiplatelets like warfarin or aspirin) — flaxseed oil may increase bleeding risk. Also double-check if you take blood pressure medications or ezetimibe (Zetia), both of which may have additive or blocking effects with this product.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFully disclosed formula with no assessable stated purpose. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
This product may appeal to you if you're looking for an omega-3 supplement, but the evidence doesn't yet support it for the conditions it's sometimes marketed toward. If you take blood thinners, blood pressure medications, or ezetimibe (Zetia), you'll want to talk this through with your doctor or pharmacist before starting — the interactions could affect how those drugs work.
The same goes if you're pregnant, breastfeeding, or taking any prescription medication.

Pinealtrophic Forte by Douglas Laboratories Drug Interactions
HelloPharmacist Interaction Report
Pinealtrophic Forte by Douglas Laboratories contains flaxseed oil, which has documented interactions with several medication types.
The most serious concern is with blood thinners (anticoagulant and antiplatelet drugs), where flaxseed oil may have additive effects and raise the risk of bleeding — small studies suggest it can decrease platelet clumping and lengthen bleeding time.
Read the full breakdown — every affected drug type, severity by severity
Flaxseed oil may also lower blood pressure additively when combined with blood pressure medications (antihypertensive drugs), increasing the risk of excessively low blood pressure. Additionally, if you take ezetimibe (Zetia) for cholesterol, flaxseed oil can block its absorption of a key fatty acid, reducing the benefit of both.
We could not check the interaction data for pineal or raw veal concentrate — no monographs are on file for those ingredients. Before you start this supplement, use the search tool below to check your exact medications against these interactions.

Flaxseed Oil
Anticoagulant/Antiplatelet Drugs
Theoretically, using flaxseed oil in combination with anticoagulant or antiplatelet drugs might have additive effects and increase the risk of bleeding.
Small clinical studies show that consuming flaxseed oil might decrease platelet aggregation and increase bleeding time.
Antihypertensive Drugs
Theoretically, combining flaxseed oil with other antihypertensive drugs might have additive effects and increase the risk of hypotension.
Some clinical evidence suggests that long-term consumption of flaxseed oil can modestly lower systolic and diastolic blood pressure, while other clinical research shows no effect.
Ezetimibe (Zetia)
Concomitant use of flaxseed oil and ezetimibe reduces the absorption of alpha-linolenic acid from flaxseed oil.
In one clinical study, concomitant consumption of ezetimibe 10 mg daily with flaxseed oil 2 grams providing 1 gram of alpha-linolenic acid daily blocked the absorption of alpha-linolenic acid, resulting in an overall reduction in alpha-linolenic plasma levels from baseline.
