Pro-Flora Concentrate Ingredients & Drug Interactions
What is this page for?
First and foremost: checking Pro-Flora Concentrate against your medications. The heart of this page is the interaction checker and the full interaction report — how this product’s ingredients may interact with prescription and over-the-counter medicines you may be taking.
Around that, we add a pharmacist’s high-level view of the product as a whole — what’s inside, the evidence for its stated use, how transparent the label is, and what safety data exists — so you can see the full picture in one place. It’s educational information from our licensed clinical databases and the clinical staff at HelloPharmacist — not medical advice — and we don’t sell or endorse products. Our editorial policy

HelloPharmacist Scorecard of Pro-Flora Concentrate by Integrative Therapeutics
Our pharmacy team’s full take, with four database checks built into the cards below — a summary of what is known, not a grade of the product itself.
What’s inside
Low disclosure
Pro-Flora Concentrate contains six active probiotic ingredients — beneficial live bacteria and yeast strains meant to support gut health. The main ones are Lactobacillus acidophilus NCFM, L. rhamnosus Lr-32, Bifidobacterium bifidum Bb-02, Bifidobacterium lactis BI-04, B. breve M-16V, and B. longum BB536.
These are delivered in a capsule form along with inactive ingredients including palm oil, fish gelatin, glycerin, soy lecithin, and pectin.
Does it work?
Moderate evidence
The evidence for what Pro-Flora Concentrate can do varies by strain and condition. L. acidophilus and B. bifidum are possibly effective for irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) and possibly effective for antibiotic-associated diarrhea.
L. acidophilus is also possibly effective for bacterial vaginosis and Helicobacter pylori infection. B. bifidum is possibly effective for respiratory tract infections.
For other conditions listed — like allergic rhinitis, anxiety, Alzheimer disease, asthma, and cognitive decline — the evidence is either insufficient to rate or suggests the ingredient may not be effective. Since we don't have effectiveness data on file for L. rhamnosus Lr-32 or Bifidobacterium lactis BI-04, we can't speak to what those strains may do.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
The probiotic strains in this product are generally well tolerated in healthy adults and children. That said, there's a caution for people with weakened immune systems, serious illness, or critical conditions — the live organisms carry a rare but documented risk of infection in those populations.
Uncommonly, you might notice mild gastrointestinal side effects like bloating, flatulence, abdominal discomfort, or diarrhea when you start; one trial reported rash and itching in a couple of participants, though it wasn't clear whether the probiotics caused it. Pregnancy is rated possibly safe for the checked ingredients (L. acidophilus, B. bifidum, B. breve, and B. longum); breastfeeding safety data aren't on file for most of these strains.
If you're pregnant or nursing, talk with your doctor or pharmacist before starting.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
Before taking Pro-Flora Concentrate, check your medications against antibiotic drugs. These probiotic strains can be killed by antibiotics, which reduces how well the probiotics work.
If you're on antibiotics now or get a prescription soon, your doctor or pharmacist can help you time the doses properly — typically spacing them a few hours apart.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFormula with limited ingredient disclosure with some supporting evidence for its stated purpose. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
Pro-Flora Concentrate is a multi-strain probiotic that may help with IBS, antibiotic-related diarrhea, and a few other conditions — though evidence is strongest for IBS. The biggest thing to watch is spacing it away from antibiotics so both work properly.
If you have a weakened immune system or are very ill, check with your doctor first. Run your medications through our checker, and talk with your own doctor or pharmacist before you start.

Pro-Flora Concentrate by Integrative Therapeutics Drug Interactions
HelloPharmacist Interaction Report
Pro-Flora Concentrate by Integrative Therapeutics contains multiple probiotic strains — Lactobacillus acidophilus NCFM, B. bifidum Bb-02, B. breve M-16V, and B. longum BB536 — that all interact with antibiotic drugs.
The most serious concern is Moderate: taking this product with antibiotics might reduce how well the live organisms in the probiotic work, because the antibiotics can kill a significant portion of them. The product also contains L. rhamnosus Lr-32 and Bifidobacterium lactis BI-04, which we could not check for interactions.
Read the full breakdown — every affected drug type, severity by severity
Altogether, these interactions span 182 individual medications. The main drug type affected is antibiotics — you'll want to space out when you take this product and any antibiotic prescription, ideally by a few hours or more.
Your own doctor or pharmacist can help you time the doses so the antibiotic does its job and the probiotic stays effective.
Before you start Pro-Flora Concentrate, run your exact medications through the interaction checker on this page. If you take antibiotics now or are likely to in the near future, definitely confirm the timing with your prescriber.
