Probiotic 10 Ingredients & Drug Interactions
What is this page for?
First and foremost: checking Probiotic 10 against your medications. The heart of this page is the interaction checker and the full interaction report — how this product’s ingredients may interact with prescription and over-the-counter medicines you may be taking.
Around that, we add a pharmacist’s high-level view of the product as a whole — what’s inside, the evidence for its stated use, how transparent the label is, and what safety data exists — so you can see the full picture in one place. It’s educational information from our licensed clinical databases and the clinical staff at HelloPharmacist — not medical advice — and we don’t sell or endorse products. Our editorial policy

Our pharmacy team’s full take, with four database checks built into the cards below — a summary of what is known, not a grade of the product itself.
What’s inside
Low disclosure
This blend contains 10 probiotic strains — live beneficial bacteria meant to support your gut health. The active ingredients are Lactobacillus acidophilus, Lactobacillus bulgaricus, Lactobacillus paracasei, Lacticaseibacillus casei, Ligilactobacillus salivarius, Lacticaseibacillus paracasei, Lactobacillus plantarum, Bifidobacterium animalis lactis, Lactiplantibacillus plantarum, and Levilactobacillus brevis — each chosen for different roles in digestive and immune support.
The capsule also contains inactive ingredients: cellulose, silica, and magnesium stearate, which are fillers and binders that hold the formula together.
Does it work?
Moderate evidence
The evidence for these strains varies. Lactobacillus acidophilus is possibly effective for irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), Helicobacter pylori (a stomach bacteria), antibiotic-associated diarrhea, and bacterial vaginosis.
Lactiplantibacillus plantarum is possibly effective for eczema, high cholesterol, ulcerative colitis, and the common cold. Lacticaseibacillus paracasei is possibly effective for eczema and hay fever.
For several other conditions — constipation, depression, asthma, diabetes, and dental health — the evidence isn't established or points toward little to no effect. Many uses listed in the data show insufficient reliable evidence to rate, meaning we simply don't have enough solid research yet.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
These probiotics are generally well tolerated in healthy adults and children. That said, gastrointestinal side effects including bloating, flatulence, nausea, stomach pain, and diarrhea can occur, though uncommon.
Because these are live microorganisms, there is a theoretical concern they could cause infection in some people, especially those with weakened immune systems or serious illness — cases of bacteremia (bacteria in the bloodstream), sepsis, and other serious infections have been reported, though most are thought to occur when bacteria move from elsewhere in the body rather than from the supplement itself. Pregnancy and lactation ratings show Possibly Safe for most strains, but safety data are limited, so talk with your doctor or pharmacist before use during pregnancy or while breastfeeding.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
If you take antibiotic drugs, do not take them at the same time as this supplement. All six checked probiotic strains in this blend can be killed by antibiotics, making the probiotics less effective.
Separate your antibiotic dose from this product by at least a few hours — your doctor or pharmacist can recommend the best timing for your specific antibiotic.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFormula with limited ingredient disclosure with some supporting evidence for its stated purpose. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
This probiotic blend is most useful if you're dealing with IBS, antibiotic-related diarrhea, or certain skin or digestive conditions where the individual strains have some evidence. If you take antibiotics, separate them from this supplement by several hours — ask your doctor or pharmacist how to time it.
If you have a weakened immune system or serious illness, check with your healthcare provider first. Talk it over with your own doctor or pharmacist before starting, especially if you're pregnant, breastfeeding, or taking any medications.

HelloPharmacist Interaction Report
Probiotic 10 by Puritan's Pride Premium contains several probiotic strains — Lactobacillus acidophilus, Lacticaseibacillus casei, Ligilactobacillus salivarius, Lacticaseibacillus paracasei, Lactiplantibacillus plantarum, and Levilactobacillus brevis — that all interact with antibiotic drugs.
The interaction is Moderate in severity: these live organisms may be killed by antibiotics taken at the same time, reducing how well the probiotics work.

The key is timing. Since antibiotics can destroy the active organisms in probiotic supplements, you'll want to separate when you take them.
Your doctor or pharmacist can advise you on the right spacing — typically a few hours apart, or sometimes waiting until after your antibiotic course ends.
We could not check three other ingredients in this blend: Lactobacillus bulgaricus, Lactobacillus paracasei 8700:2, and Bifidobacterium animalis lactis. Altogether, these interactions span 182 individual medications.
