Our pharmacy team’s full take, with four database checks built into the cards below — a summary of what is known, not a grade of the product itself.
What’s inside
Low disclosure
This product contains 8 active ingredients: Fructooligosaccharides (a prebiotic fiber that feeds beneficial bacteria), and seven live probiotic strains including Lactobacillus acidophilus, Bifidobacterium bifidum, Streptococcus thermophilus, and several others. The inactive ingredients are vegetarian capsule shell, microcrystalline cellulose, silicon dioxide, magnesium stearate, and titanium dioxide.
Does it work?
Moderate evidence
The evidence here is mixed and mostly limited. Lactobacillus acidophilus is possibly effective for irritable bowel syndrome, Helicobacter pylori infection, antibiotic-associated diarrhea, and bacterial vaginosis, but possibly ineffective for atopic disease (allergic conditions).
Bifidobacterium bifidum is possibly effective for irritable bowel syndrome and respiratory tract infections, though evidence for hay fever and other conditions is insufficient. Streptococcus thermophilus lacks reliable evidence for the conditions studied.
Fructooligosaccharides haven't been rated as reliably effective for any condition in our data—the evidence is insufficient for osteoporosis, constipation, diabetes, travelers' diarrhea, and high cholesterol. In short, some strains may help with gut and digestive issues, but the overall case for this blend is not firmly established.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
The live probiotics in this product are generally well tolerated in healthy adults and children. The most common side effects are mild and digestive: with Lactobacillus acidophilus and Bifidobacterium bifidum together, you might notice bloating, flatulence, abdominal pain, or diarrhea—but these are uncommon.
Fructooligosaccharides can cause gas and bloating, especially at higher doses; studies show these side effects are generally mild at doses under 10 grams per day. A rare but serious concern exists: live probiotics have been reported in a small number of cases to cause infection (bacteremia, sepsis) in patients with severely weakened immune systems or central lines, but this is exceptionally uncommon in healthy people.
Pregnancy and lactation safety data for these specific strains are not on file—talk with your doctor or pharmacist before use during pregnancy or breastfeeding.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
If you take antibiotics, check with your pharmacist before starting this product—the live bacteria in it may become less effective if you dose them at the same time. Separate administration is recommended.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFormula with limited ingredient disclosure with some supporting evidence for its stated purpose. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
This probiotic blend may help if you have irritable bowel syndrome or antibiotic-associated diarrhea, though the evidence is modest. If you're taking antibiotics, you'll need to space out the doses from this supplement.
People with severely weakened immune systems should check with their doctor first. Talk to your pharmacist about whether this product fits your needs.

Probiotic Complex 10 Billion CFUs by GNC Probiotic Complex Drug Interactions
HelloPharmacist Interaction Report
GNC Probiotic Complex 10 Billion CFUs contains several live probiotic bacteria, and one of them—Lactobacillus acidophilus—has a documented interaction with antibiotics.
Because these probiotics are live organisms, taking them at the same time as antibiotics might reduce how well the probiotics work; the antibiotics can kill off a significant number of the live bacteria in the supplement. This is a Moderate severity concern.
Read the full breakdown — every affected drug type, severity by severity
Bifidobacterium bifidum, another active ingredient here, carries the same Moderate interaction with antibiotics for the same reason—the antibiotic may reduce its effectiveness by killing the live organisms.
Additionally, we could not check Lactobacillus salivarius, Lactobacillus plantarum, Lactobacillus rhamnosus, or obtain full details on the Bifidobacterium animalis subsp. lactis and Multi-Strain Blend components. Fructooligosaccharides and Streptococcus thermophilus have no interactions documented in our data, though that's not a guarantee none exist.
Altogether, these interactions span 182 individual medications. Before you start this product, run any antibiotics you take through the medication checker below—and if you're on an antibiotic, space out the doses from this supplement.
