Here is the interaction we found between these two, with the evidence behind it.
ANTIDIABETES DRUGS
Why this applies to Dapagliflozin
Dapagliflozin falls under ANTIDIABETES DRUGS — the group Reishi Mushroom interacts with.
Animal research suggests that reishi mushroom decreases blood sugar. However, in patients with type 2 diabetes, taking reishi mushroom does not reduce fasting glucose levels, and its effects on glycated hemoglobin are inconsistent.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Here's the gist: reishi mushroom may, in theory, nudge your blood sugar a little lower on its own. Since Farxiga (dapagliflozin) already works to bring blood sugar down (it helps your kidneys flush out extra sugar through your urine), stacking the two could in principle add up to lower readings than you expect.
I want to be honest about the evidence though. This idea comes mostly from animal and lab work. In actual people with type 2 diabetes, reishi hasn't reliably lowered fasting glucose, and its effect on A1C has been all over the map. So a serious drop is unlikely, but if you do start reishi, keep an eye out for signs of low sugar like shakiness, sweating, or feeling lightheaded, and let your pharmacist or doctor know before adding it.

About Reishi Mushroom
What is Reishi Mushroom?
- Immune support
- Fatigue and general well-being
- Stress and sleep
- Inflammation
- Heart and cholesterol health
Reishi is a traditional Asian mushroom widely used to support the immune system and overall wellness. Human evidence for most of its claimed benefits is limited or low-quality, so it should not replace proven treatments. It is generally well tolerated for short-term use, but check with your pharmacist or doctor before starting, especially if you are pregnant, nursing, or take other medicines.
About Dapagliflozin
What Is Dapagliflozin Used For?
Brand name: Farxiga
Dapagliflozin is used for several serious conditions. It helps improve blood sugar control in adults and children aged 10 and older with type 2 diabetes (alongside diet and exercise). It also reduces the risk of hospitalization for heart failure in adults with type 2 diabetes who have established cardiovascular disease or multiple cardiovascular risk factors.
Farxiga (dapagliflozin) is additionally approved to reduce the risk of cardiovascular death, hospitalization, and urgent visits due to heart failure in adults with heart failure — and to slow the progression of chronic kidney disease, including reducing the risk of kidney failure and cardiovascular death, in adults with chronic kidney disease at risk of getting worse.
