Ibrutinib falls under ANTICOAGULANT/ANTIPLATELET DRUGS — the group Aconite interacts with.

Theoretically, combining aconite with other antiplatelet or anticoagulant drugs might increase the risk of bruising and bleeding.
Higenamine, a constituent of aconite, is thought to have antiplatelet and antithrombotic effects. In an animal model of thrombosis, higenamine inhibited platelet aggregation and reduced the size of thrombus formation.

Here's the thing about ibrutinib (Imbruvica): even on its own, it's known to raise your risk of bruising and bleeding. That's a well-recognized side effect, which is why your care team watches for things like nosebleeds, easy bruising, or blood in your urine or stool.

Aconite contains a compound called higenamine that, in lab and animal studies, seemed to make platelets less sticky and slow clot formation. The worry is that adding this kind of blood-thinning effect on top of ibrutinib could stack up and make bleeding more likely. To be honest, this is theoretical and based only on animal data, not human studies, so it's far from proven. But because aconite is genuinely toxic and ibrutinib already affects bleeding, I'd steer clear of it and check with your oncology team or pharmacist first.

What Is Ibrutinib Used For?

Brand name: Imbruvica

Imbruvica (ibrutinib) is approved for adult patients with chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL) / small lymphocytic lymphoma (SLL), including those with a specific genetic change called 17p deletion, and for adult patients with Waldenström's macroglobulinemia (WM), a rare type of blood cancer.

Imbruvica is also approved for chronic graft-versus-host disease (cGVHD) — a complication that can occur after a stem cell transplant — in adults and children aged 1 year and older whose condition did not respond to at least one prior treatment.
