Modafinil falls under STIMULANT DRUGS — the group Aconite interacts with.

Theoretically, combining aconite with other stimulant drugs might alter the effects of the stimulant drug or increase the risk of cardiovascular toxicity.
Aconite and its constituents have stimulant effects due to agonist activity at beta-2-adrenoreceptors. In cardiac muscle, aconite appears to have a positive inotropic effect and increases heart rate and blood pressure. However, some constituents of aconite can reduce heart rate and blood pressure.

Here's the short version for Modafinil (Provigil): this is more about two things both stirring up your heart and nerves at the same time than one changing how the other is broken down. Modafinil is a wakefulness drug that can already nudge your heart rate and blood pressure up. Aconite has its own effects on the heart and on sodium channels in nerve and muscle. Stacking them together could, in theory, add up to a faster heartbeat, palpitations, higher blood pressure, jitteriness, or trouble sleeping.

Honestly, the bigger worry is aconite itself. It's genuinely poisonous, and this concern is based on lab and animal data, not solid human studies, so the evidence here is weak. I'd steer clear of aconite entirely and check with your pharmacist or doctor before mixing anything with modafinil.

What Is Modafinil Used For?

Brand names: Provigil, Sparlon, Alertec

Modafinil (also sold as Provigil) is used to improve wakefulness in adults who experience excessive sleepiness due to narcolepsy, obstructive sleep apnea (OSA), or shift work disorder (SWD).

In OSA, modafinil treats the sleepiness — not the underlying airway obstruction itself. It is used alongside standard treatments such as CPAP (a breathing device worn during sleep), not as a replacement for them. If CPAP is appropriate for you, your doctor will want you to use it consistently even while taking modafinil.
