Ethinyl Estradiol, Norgestrel falls under CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES — the group Aegeline interacts with.

Aegeline inhibits cytochrome P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) activity in vitro. So far, this interaction has not been reported in humans. Theoretically, aegeline may increase levels of drugs metabolized by CYP3A4. Some drugs metabolized by CYP3A4 include lovastatin (Mevacor), ketoconazole (Nizoral), itraconazole (Sporanox), fexofenadine (Allegra), triazolam (Halcion), and numerous others. Use aegeline cautiously or avoid in patients taking these drugs.

Your birth control pill combines two hormones, ethinyl estradiol and norgestrel, and your body partly clears the estrogen part using a liver enzyme called CYP3A4. In lab tests (test tubes, not people), aegeline appears to slow that enzyme down. In theory, that could let a bit more estrogen linger in your system, which might mean slightly more of the usual estrogen-related complaints like nausea, breast tenderness, headaches, or bloating. These pills are not prodrugs, so the active hormone simply hangs around longer rather than working differently.

Honestly, this is a weak, theoretical concern that has not been seen in real people. My bigger worry with aegeline is that it has been linked to serious liver injury and regulators have warned against it, so I would steer clear of it entirely. Please check with your pharmacist or doctor before combining anything new with your pill.
