Why this applies to Conjugated Estrogens

Conjugated Estrogens falls under CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES — the group Aegeline interacts with.

Aegeline inhibits cytochrome P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) activity in vitro. So far, this interaction has not been reported in humans. Theoretically, aegeline may increase levels of drugs metabolized by CYP3A4. Some drugs metabolized by CYP3A4 include lovastatin (Mevacor), ketoconazole (Nizoral), itraconazole (Sporanox), fexofenadine (Allegra), triazolam (Halcion), and numerous others. Use aegeline cautiously or avoid in patients taking these drugs.

Here's the short version: your body uses a liver enzyme called CYP3A4 to help break down estrogen. In lab dishes, aegeline appears to slow that same enzyme down. In theory, that could let estrogen build up a bit higher than usual, which might mean more estrogen-related effects like breast tenderness, bloating, nausea, headaches, or spotting.

Now the honest part: this is only seen in test-tube studies, not in real people, so it's a theoretical concern rated as minor. The bigger issue is aegeline itself. It's been tied to serious liver injury and U.S. regulators warned against it, so I'd steer clear of it regardless. If you're considering any supplement alongside your estrogen, please run it past your pharmacist or doctor first.

Aegeline is a compound originally identified in the bael tree (Aegle marmelos) that gained attention because it was added to some weight-loss and workout supplements.
