Agrimony and Desmopressin Acetate

We checked these two against our interaction database. Here is what we found.

No Known Interaction Found

We did not find a documented interaction between Desmopressin Acetate and Agrimony in our sources. This does not guarantee that the combination is completely free of risk — there is often limited research on supplements and herbal products, especially around drug interactions.

If you decide to take both, the practical routine is simple: add one new thing at a time and note the date you started it. If the combination is going to disagree with you, it usually shows in the first days to a couple of weeks — and a start date turns “I’ve been feeling off” into something a pharmacist can actually work with. Do not stop a prescribed medicine on your own.

Always talk with your pharmacist or doctor before making changes to your medications or supplements, particularly if you take several medications or have an ongoing health condition.

How we checked

Why No Interaction Is Listed for Desmopressin Acetate

Interactions in our licensed database are recorded against drug classes, not just single drug names. Desmopressin Acetate is filed under a single classification — oral drugs. Agrimony has documented interactions with 1 drug class — the most serious being antidiabetes drugs (moderate) — and none of Desmopressin Acetate’s classifications are among them.

Classification data comes from our licensed Natural Medicines dataset. A medication can belong to classes beyond those recorded there, so this describes how the check was run — it is not a safety guarantee.

From the ADVERSE REACTIONS section of the FDA label for Desmopressin Acetate. Read the label on DailyMed › Where a percentage is shown, it is the share of 3,776 voluntary FDA FAERS reports for Desmopressin Acetate that mention that effect — a reporting proportion, not an incidence rate and not evidence the drug caused it. Agrimony’s licensed record lists no adverse effects our clinical vocabulary could match, so there is no Agrimony side to compare — that is a limit of the record, not a statement that Agrimony has no side effects.

About Agrimony

What is Agrimony?

Agrimony
  • Sore throat and mouth irritation
  • Mild diarrhea and digestive upset
  • Minor wounds and skin irritation
  • Gallbladder and liver complaints
  • Blood sugar support

Agrimony is a traditional European herb rich in tannins that has long been used for sore throats, mild diarrhea, and minor skin problems. Good-quality human studies are very limited, so its benefits remain unproven. If you choose to try it, use it short-term, follow the product label, and check with your pharmacist or doctor first.

Agrimonia eupatoria · Rosaceae · Dried above-ground parts (leaves, stems, flowers) and seeds · Tea, tincture, liquid extract, capsules, gargle or mouth rinse, topical preparations

An interaction check asks whether these two react with each other — it does not ask whether Agrimony is a good idea for someone in your situation. Here is what our Agrimony record says about it on its own.

Agrimony: dosing

There is no well-established, standardized dose for agrimony. Traditional use has been mainly as a tea made from the dried herb, or as a tincture or liquid extract. If you choose to use an agrimony product, follow the directions on the label and do not exceed the recommended amount.

About Desmopressin

What Is Desmopressin Used For?

Brand names: DDAVP, Noctiva, Nocdurna

Desmopressin treats central diabetes insipidus — a condition where the body doesn't make enough antidiuretic hormone (ADH), causing the kidneys to release far too much water. It's also used for temporary excessive urination and thirst that can follow head trauma or surgery near the pituitary gland.

It's also approved for primary nocturnal enuresis (bedwetting at night) and can be used alone or alongside behavioral approaches. Note: it does not work for nephrogenic diabetes insipidus, a different type of the condition.
