Here's the gist with Invokana (canagliflozin): this drug already lowers your blood sugar by helping your kidneys flush out extra sugar in your urine. Agrimony has shown some blood-sugar-lowering activity too, but only in animal studies, so this is more of a theoretical concern than a proven one. The worry is simply additive: two things nudging your sugar down at the same time could push it a little too low.

Practically, watch for signs of low blood sugar like shakiness, sweating, dizziness, or feeling foggy, especially if you take canagliflozin with other diabetes meds. If you'd like to try agrimony, please check with your pharmacist or doctor first and keep an eye on your sugar readings rather than changing anything on your own.

What Is Canagliflozin Used For?

Brand name: Invokana

Invokana (canagliflozin) is used alongside diet and exercise to improve blood sugar control in adults and children aged 10 and older with type 2 diabetes. It is not for type 1 diabetes.

In adults with type 2 diabetes, Invokana is also used to lower the risk of heart attack, stroke, and cardiovascular death in those with established cardiovascular disease, and to reduce the risk of serious kidney complications — including end-stage kidney disease, cardiovascular death, and hospitalization for heart failure — in those with diabetic kidney disease and high levels of protein in the urine.
