Here's something worth understanding about this pairing. Dasiglucagon (Zegalogue) isn't a daily diabetes pill. It's an emergency rescue injection you use when blood sugar drops dangerously low. It works by telling your liver to dump its stored sugar back into your bloodstream quickly.

Now here's the catch with a low-carb plan like Atkins. When you eat very few carbs over time, your liver's stored sugar (glycogen) can run low. Dasiglucagon depends on that storage to do its job, so if those reserves are depleted, the injection may not raise your blood sugar as well as expected. This is a theoretical, expert-opinion concern, not something seen often, but it's a good reason to talk with your doctor or pharmacist about a backup plan for severe lows.

Zegalogue is used to treat severe hypoglycemia — a dangerously low blood sugar episode — in adults and children aged 6 years and older who have diabetes. Severe hypoglycemia is a medical emergency that requires immediate action.

Zegalogue is not a day-to-day diabetes medicine. It is prescribed as an emergency kit to be on hand in case a person with diabetes becomes unresponsive or cannot safely swallow food or juice to raise their blood sugar.
