Here's the simple version: Tresiba (insulin degludec) is your long-acting background insulin, dosed to match the carbs and sugar your body normally handles. When you cut carbs way down on the Atkins plan, your blood sugar naturally runs lower, so the insulin dose you were comfortable on may suddenly be more than you need. That can stack up and push your sugar too low. Watch for shakiness, sweating, dizziness, confusion, or feeling unusually hungry.

This is rated a minor, unlikely interaction based mostly on expert opinion, not strong studies, so don't panic. But insulin is one of those medicines where even small shifts matter. Please check your blood sugar more often and talk with your doctor or pharmacist before changing your diet, so your dose can be adjusted safely.

What Is Insulin Degludec (rDNA Origin) Injection Used For?

Brand name: Tresiba

Insulin degludec (brands: Insulin Degludec, Tresiba) is indicated to improve glycemic control (blood sugar management) in patients 1 year of age and older with diabetes mellitus — both type 1 and type 2.

It is not recommended for treating diabetic ketoacidosis (a dangerous complication where acids build up in the blood). In patients with type 1 diabetes, it must be used together with a short-acting insulin.
