Chlordiazepoxide, Clidinium Bromide falls under CYTOCHROME P450 1A2 (CYP1A2) SUBSTRATES — the group Atractylodes interacts with.

Theoretically, atractylodes might decrease the levels of CYP1A2 substrates.
In animals, atractylodes administered at high doses has been shown to induce CYP1A2 activity. This effect has not been shown in humans.

Here's the gist with Librax (chlordiazepoxide plus clidinium) and atractylodes. In animal studies given at high doses, atractylodes seemed to speed up a liver enzyme called CYP1A2, which is one of the pathways that helps clear the chlordiazepoxide portion of this medicine. If that sped-up effect happened in people, it could in theory lower your chlordiazepoxide levels a bit, meaning slightly less relief from anxiety or gut spasms.

But here's the honest part: this has only been seen in lab and animal research, never confirmed in humans, and it's rated as a minor interaction. So I wouldn't lose sleep over it. Still, before adding any atractylodes-containing herbal formula, check with your pharmacist or doctor so we can keep an eye on how well your Librax is working for you.

Chlordiazepoxide and clidinium capsules are used to help control both the physical and emotional factors involved in gastrointestinal (digestive) disorders. This includes use as add-on therapy for peptic ulcer, irritable bowel syndrome (also called irritable colon, spastic colon, or mucous colitis), and acute enterocolitis (sudden inflammation of the intestines).

Librax is one brand available in capsule form and is approved for the same set of gastrointestinal uses.
