Dexchlorpheniramine falls under CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES — the group Atractylodes interacts with.

Theoretically, atractylodes might increase the levels of CYP3A4 substrates.
In animals, atractylodes administered at high doses has been shown to inhibit CYP3A1 activity, which is a homolog to the human CYP3A4 enzyme. This effect has not been shown in humans.

Here's the gist for these two together. Your body uses a liver enzyme called CYP3A4 to help clear dexchlorpheniramine (Polaramine). In lab and animal studies, atractylodes appears to slow down a similar enzyme when given in high doses. If that carried over to people, your allergy medicine could break down a little more slowly and build up, which might make its usual effects stronger, things like drowsiness, dry mouth, blurry vision, or feeling foggy.

The honest part: this has only been seen in test tubes and animals, never proven in humans, and it's rated a minor concern. Food-level amounts are unlikely to matter, but concentrated supplements are less predictable. If you take both, just mention it to your pharmacist or doctor first.

Chlorpheniramine is used to temporarily relieve common allergy symptoms caused by hay fever (allergic rhinitis) or other upper respiratory allergies. These include runny nose, sneezing, itchy or watery eyes, and itching of the nose or throat.

These uses are supported across multiple products — including tablets (such as Aller-chlor, Allergy, Allergy Relief, Allergy Time, Anti Allergy, and Chlorpheniramine Maleate), extended-release tablets (Allergy Relief and Chlorphen-12), the oral solution Ed Chlorped Jr, and the inhalers ClorRelief and ClorRelief KIDs.
