ANTICOAGULANT/ANTIPLATELET DRUGS

Ibuprofen, Acetaminophen falls under ANTICOAGULANT/ANTIPLATELET DRUGS — the group Atractylodes interacts with.
Laboratory research suggests that atractylenolides II and III, constituents of atractylodes, reduce platelet activation. So far, this has not been shown in humans.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Here's the gist with Advil Dual Action, which pairs ibuprofen with acetaminophen. The ibuprofen half is itself an anti-inflammatory (NSAID) that already nudges your blood toward bleeding a bit, mostly by affecting how platelets stick together and by being a little rough on the stomach lining. Lab studies hint that certain compounds in atractylodes may also calm platelets down, so in theory the two together could add up to a slightly higher bleeding tendency, things like easier bruising, nosebleeds, or stomach upset.
That said, this is only test-tube and animal data and has not been shown in real people. So I wouldn't panic, but if you take both regularly or notice any unusual bleeding, give your pharmacist or doctor a quick call.

CYTOCHROME P450 1A2 (CYP1A2) SUBSTRATES
2 of 2Ibuprofen, Acetaminophen also falls under CYTOCHROME P450 1A2 (CYP1A2) SUBSTRATES.
In animals, atractylodes administered at high doses has been shown to induce CYP1A2 activity. This effect has not been shown in humans.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Here's the short version: in animal studies, high doses of atractylodes seemed to speed up an enzyme called CYP1A2. Since this enzyme helps break down certain drugs, a faster enzyme could in theory lower their levels and make them a little less effective. With your Advil Dual Action (ibuprofen plus acetaminophen), neither ingredient is a prodrug, so a faster enzyme would mean slightly weaker, not stronger, effects.
Honestly, I wouldn't lose sleep over this one. The concern is theoretical and has only been seen in animals at high doses, never proven in people. Acetaminophen and ibuprofen also rely more on other enzymes than CYP1A2. Still, if you take atractylodes regularly, just mention it to your pharmacist so they can keep an eye on things.
