ANTICOAGULANT/ANTIPLATELET DRUGS
Why this applies to Bivalirudin
Bivalirudin falls under ANTICOAGULANT/ANTIPLATELET DRUGS — the group Babassu interacts with.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Here's the short version: Bivalirudin (Angiomax) is a powerful blood thinner given through an IV, usually in a hospital during heart procedures. It works by directly blocking thrombin, a key player in clotting. In animal studies, babassu appears to have its own mild blood-thinning, anti-clotting activity. So the worry is simple addition, two things nudging your blood toward less clotting at the same time, which could raise the chance of bleeding or bruising.
I want to be honest about the evidence here. This is based only on lab and animal research, not human studies, so it's theoretical. Still, because bivalirudin is already a serious anticoagulant used in a careful hospital setting, mention any babassu supplement to your care team before a procedure. Don't change anything on your own.

From our pharmacist’s overview on the Bivalirudin page
“Bivalirudin (Angiomax) is a strong intravenous blood thinner used during heart procedures like angioplasty, and because bleeding is already its main built-in danger, this list deserves genuine care. All 202 supplements on it interact the same basic way: they thin the blood or blunt platelets themselves, stacking bleeding risk on top of…”

About Babassu
What is Babassu?
- Skin and hair care
- Inflammation
- Wound healing
- Digestive complaints
- General wellness
Babassu comes from a Brazilian palm tree, and its oil and mesocarp flour are used in foods, cosmetics, and traditional remedies. Early lab and animal studies suggest possible anti-inflammatory and wound-healing effects, but there is very little human research to confirm any health benefit. If you want to try it, talk with your pharmacist or doctor first.
